party girl, should i drink?

well, next weekend is st patty's day... I was hoping I would be at goal by then but still have about 10lb of fat to go (or 6 something % body fat) Realistically its something like 20 pounds left probably. I have lost 20 so far. I still have my birthday goal coming up in april which I will probably meet no matter how I go about it. I have been pretty rogue this time I guess. I have been lifting weights and doing egg protein shakes and just started more cardio today. I have been struggling with wether or not I should drink at the party. It is pretty much the point of the st. patty's day party. It gets pretty crazy with the booze, everyone crashes out and then we usually go eat off our hangovers the next day. I know that the amount of alcohol it takes me to get a good buzz (which is where I usually stop) is negligible and probably wont hurt me much but the snacking at the party may be hard to resist. I have some less than encouraging friends when it comes to weight loss and I haven't really told them what I am doing to lose weight. I did mention (since its a pot luck) that I will likely be bringing some healthy snack foods but I know none of them will touch it. I have a friend who wont eat anything if it touched a vegetable. I am really stuck on this. I know I will be upset if I just don't go to the party, because we are moving soon and I wont get to see these friends very often (and I do love them even if they are fat) I think if I do go and don't drink I will feel left out, like the only person at a costume party that doesn't dress up. I know they would not say anything about me not drinking other than just curiosity. I just really don't want to miss out on the party. I don't know how to handle it and I know that no matter what answer you give it probably wont be what I want to hear and I am ok with that. I want to lose this weight but is it worth it to me to miss one party? Can I handle a little buzz and avoid the buffet table? What will I eat when they make waffles in the morning? Will I be strong enough with a hangover to resist something I know will stall me for a week (gluten issues) Any advice? Did you face something similar? Could you handle it? I feel strong about it but I have broken before in p2 and I don't want to set sail for fail.

You already know the answer. Why are you asking us, sweet thing?

Go to the party. Take your healthy snacks. Go buy a bottle of Italian sparkling water flavored with strawberry or lemon or something, and drop a little red food coloring in it. Drink it in a pretty glass.

Thus, no hangover. No nagging from friends. No reason to eat a waffle since you won't be having those hungover carb cravings.

And you stay on track. You stay strong. And you stay in sight of your goal.

And have a blast! Trust me- you don't have to get plastered or even slightly buzzed to have a wonderful time with people you love.

It's just one night of your life, and you are looking at an entire lifetime of slender health before you. It just isn't worth it.

I agree... You have worked way to hard to go backwards now. I've been on and off of this diet for a year now! The biggest thing I have learned is once you justify cheating once it makes it difficult to finish strong! Dont waste your hard work http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

Thanks for the encouragement, I will likely just take my MIO and drink that, I can't stand carbonation anyways. We usually do drinking games... maybe I will remember the rules this time lol. My hubby and I worked out a safety word, if we need to leave and, he is going to try (not be a gaurd dog) to keep me away from the table all together. I have a friend who knows what I am doing and is the one who usually mixes my drinks so I will probably just tell him ahead of time just to make me mio water when he makes himself drinks. Lol I will be getting more hydrated this time.

Please don't! I tried the "party girl thing" on Sat. I cheated Sat, Sun, & Tues. I have not lost any weight at all this week. I keep losing it, cheating, and regaining it. I woke up this morning and I am so tired of this sick game I am playing with myself. I lost 15lbs in 2 weeks. Now I am cheating. Little sushi here, some drinks there, fried chicken there. I have 21 more days on this diet & yes it's hot outside. Yes, all my friends want to go out. But it's not worth. The thing about cheating is once you do it the 1st time, it's easier the next time.

You know it! I'm a drinker,too...and nothing seems better than a cold beer at the end of a hard day...but that just kills your resolve. I'm so much happier when i don't drink. I'm on r1p1d18 and have lost and gained depending on drinking or not...really..down 10..15 to go
