Default Newbie Advice! I am addicted to Mt.Dew. Starting HCG in 2wks...HELP!
I tried the drops last year & for the few days I was on them I lost weight, but felt AWFUL!! So needless to say, I quit. My weight needs to come off & I need to start a healthy lifestyle again!! Wondering if anyone else had to "kick the habit" for the HCG diet & would you be willing to share tips, tricks, & ideas?? Happy Life-Changing my new friends!!

I think you have to totally commit yourself to being perfect on protocol for 40 days. Make sure you have all your favorites before you start the VLCD phase and tell yourself all cravings and desires can be filled after 40 days. You can do 40 days easily and you will find by the time you get to the end you are no longer really craving those things. Getting a smaller number every day should encourage you greatly. I am not at all disciplined but this was easy because I wanted it so bad. Even my husband was amazed that I was so disciplined on such a strict protocol. It does work if you work it. I have maintained my loss for over six weeks and am heading into round two in the next couple of weeks. Good luck to you!

Try to find some Zevia (Mountain Zevia flavor).

I know I'll try because I really have my heart set to this & I know I need to start weaning myself soon before I start this because I don't want a repeat of last time. I was SO happy to see the weight falling off, but I was more miserable from the sugar/caffeine withdrawl & I felt SO pathetic!! What is the stevia limit on the hcg diet?

None that I know, though I think I read that it makes some people stall. But that may have been with some stevia powders as they can have added carbs. You can get liquid stevia which has no additions, or sweet leaf that has inulin in it as well, which is fiber. It has 0 calories and comes in tons of flavors.

Don't know if it would help, but I did a cleanse before I started Round 1 and had no trouble kicking Diet Coke.

Sweet leaf most certainly does NOT have insulin in it, nor is insulin a fiber.

Stevia may help regulate insulin or decrease insulin sensitivity, but they still need to do lots more research on that field on something besides rats.

TNTmom, you may want to start weaning yourself off NOW. Replacing a bad soda addiction (and Mt Dew is pretty bad) with Stevia products is still a way to keep your brain and your body wired for sweet things. And you need to think of this diet as a way to help you change your eating habits for a healthier lifestyle.

You want scary? Read the list of drinks in this list (showcasing a few of my personal favorites - the DQ Moolatte for example) and see just how much sugar is in there! http://eatthis.menshealth.com/slides...s-america-2010 And here's a breakdown of the ingredients in Mt Dew. Amazing how some of the cause thyroid issues (thus weight problems) simply from drinking it. http://www.naturalthyroidchoices.com/MtDew.html

You can do this!

Kitty-- Mrs. was referring to inulin, which has a very similar spelling as insulin, but is most definitely a plant fiber

TNT-- I agree with what everyone else has said. I hear they make a root beer flavored stevia drop, which you could easily add to sparkling water, which could give you a soda-like taste if you were totally desperate. I personally buy sparkling water (La Croix) that has some natural flavor (comes in Lime, Lemon, Berry, etc) and then add a few drops of flavored stevia. You really won't miss the Mt. Dew, I promise!

I hear ya! I had a nasty Diet Coke habit and I am talking a 2 liter bottle a day for the past 5-7 years.

I went cold turkey and aside from an occiasional cup of tea, I am only drinking water. Gallons of water.

I have a few headaches here and there but I have been off the stuff for 1 week and I am on VLCD 7 with a 12 pound loss so far!

I have a feeling that my inability to lose in the past was because I was drinking so much caffine.

I will never go back to that again!

GOOD LUCK!!

Oh thank God I totally misread that. I was like, WHAT?? Ok, so yes, the brand SweetLeaf adds inulin to their stevia to make their product. Thanks for catching that, ELW!

Yes, the powdered form. The liquid form does not include inulin. ;-)
