So I know that celery is a negative calorie food and I've been eating it as one of my two veggies a day. But after gaining weight this morning, I'm starting to get afraid that I'm not eating enough and it's causing my body to go into starvation mode. Does celery count?
And if it doesn't, can I eat it whenever I get those crazy must-snack-now cravings!? |

There's really no such thing as a negative calorie food. There are actually 16 or so calories per cup in celery. But, there's lots of fiber in it and lots of water as well, so it's a good option especially for combating hunger. I have heard of several people doing the diet and not counting their veggies at all with great success, and I've also heard of people eating some cucumber or celery for extra hunger. I would think that's not a great idea with things like tomato or onion, which has some sugar in it, but I'd doubt you would do too much of a dent if you eat extra celery.

Awesome! Ok I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't hurting my diet by eating a bunch of celery. I don't count calories at all. Just weigh my protein, minimize my fruit and go crazy with allotted veggies! Broke the gain I had and dropped two pounds! I'm thinking it may have been the grilled chicken that I had while out to eat the other day. Must of been cooked with oil those tricksters!
