I fainted today?

Today I sat down to eat my lunch, felt odd, and fainted. I was sitting in a chair and just sort of slumped. I came to with my lunch in my lap and my fork on the floor.

Possibilities-

It is normal for me to have low blood pressure. I haven't taken it since on hhcg (VLCD 22) so I don't know if that is it. I suspect it has been lower than normal, I stay very cold and often feel light-headed.

I am having a hard time getting enough calories. I am only eating one fruit a day, stopped eating melba, and am up to about 4 oz of protein, twice a day, plus veg. My calories are often between 3-400.

I have mild sleep apnea and fell asleep without the c-pap last night - I often pull it off in the night, but I didn't even get it on last night. Best night of sleep I've had in ages. I may have experienced low oxygen, though.

Extreme TOM right now. I know my hormones are off and plan to start using progesterone after hhcg, but I have had spotting every day on hcg and started a week early - 3 days ago.

I was taking an adrenal supplement before hhcg and stopped about two weeks ago. I've been on it about 4-5 months after hormone testing showed whacked-out levels. Compounding pharmacist recommended staying on ADR for life. If I'm resetting my hypothalamus, I'd like to see what happens without the adrenal support. May need to re-think that.

I had a life-whammy hit last week - stress levels through the roof!

I've only fainted once before in my life and that was 30 years ago - heat/hunger/exhaustion.

I'm halfway to my goal and would like to continue through a 40 day round. But - I do a lot of driving and now I am nervous about getting behind the wheel. I did several searches and read other similar posts and the obvious response is - go to the Dr. However, I'm a little concerned that my regular Dr will not approve of the HCG and I would rather not go down that road. KWIM?

I'm going out later today and can stop and get a blood pressure reading at CVS.

Any other thoughts?

just remember ... your health is more important ..

being safe behind the wheel sounds way better than 40 days of hcg
don't risk an accident

Why are you eating only 300 calories a day?!

I'm no doctor, but I would urge you to stop this diet and see a doctor right away.

What is your height and weight may I ask?

The 3-400 calories is estimated according to Spark People nutrition tracker. I dropped one fruit because I know I don't handle sugar well - makes me jumpy, I've never been much of a fruit eater. I can add the fruit back in. When the veggies have hardly any calories, than means I'm getting two 4 oz servings of protein and the calories just don't add up. I've been a slow loser (1/2 lb a day or less) so I dropped the melba for the most part. I still add it in sometimes.

I am 5'3'' and currently 144. I'd like to get to 130. The "health charts" say I should be between 108-127. I started at 158, so I'm halfway to my goal. Other than today, I have had no problems with the diet. I was a pretty healthy eater before (except I just loved my carbs) and I think that's why I'm not having the losses of a pound or more a day. I'm ok with losing it at this pace. I'm also not getting any exercise, I'd like to walk but it is cold and I don't have a treadmill. I may do a little of the basic T-TAPP workout just to get my blood pumping.

Thanks for the feedback.

The fainting bit was a little unnerving, but I have felt great the rest of the day. Before I stop altogether (which I could do safely at this point) I think I will add in the second fruit and maybe melba once a day. That will get the calories up.

Just keep up to 500 calories at least. Some HCG docs will actually tell you to eat more than that.

You can add more calories by upping your veggie intake. I grant you, eating 5 cups of spinach is a lot, but that means you have a full tummy, too; or I eat HUGE amounts of lettuce. I roll the leaves into tight little bundles, because I like to bite into things and I like the crunch. Or tweak your recipes. When I make chili, I use 100g of 94/6 ground beef and 1 whole can of Hunt's diced no-salt added tomatoes. That comes to about 250 calories, and it is WAY filling. I could eat that every day for lunch because it is so good AND fills me up.

But you definitely need more than 300-400 calories a day.

I actually asked this question last week:

Not getting enough calories

I still don't think the fainting was because of the low calories, I think it is blood pressure related. I am going to start taking it every day and watch for a problem.

It sounds like low blood pressure. I usually never get 500 calories but my blood pressure has never been a problem and I never feel faint - be careful!

Try adding an extra protein shake.

Read P & I about this. Dr. S says this can happen & to keep a little pure sugar with you at all times. When you feel this way, quickly eat it. I actually "borrowed" a couple of those little individual packets from a restaurant.

Man do I understand your frustration, Zippity. I went through the exact same thing for two straight days. I thought I was going to have to stop. I drive an hour each way to work and back, and thought I was going to pass out while I was driving on the interstate. I had to pull over and eat an apple. Then it continued to happen 4 more times over the next 2 days. I couldn't figure out if it was low blood sugar, low blood pressure or what. I even bought glucose tablets and a blood sugar moniter, and started testing myself before I drove. I was almost ready to quit completely, then I read some threads about dosing being off, and people feeling whacked out. I thought, what the heck- I am thinking about quitting anyway, and decided to do a skip day. Low and behold, I had to force-feed myself and was less hungry with no shot at all. So I reduced my dosage from 200 to 150, and I feel like a new person. I'm not sure if you TOM could be causing the amount of hormone your body is using, or whether anything has changed with your dosage, but I figured i would tell you my two cents inc ase it helps you. I hope you feel better!

You really need to be eating 500 calories every single day- add more veggies or better yet, more protein. If you are suspecting low blood pressure, you really really need to seek a Doctor's advice. Find a Doctor who does hCG local to you- and just call the nurse and see what they recommend.
