For my first 14 days of injections, the little sting was less and less and I expected it to totally stop with time. However, for the past two days, the sting and burn has been painful.

I fill my syringe, then I put the whole thing (recapped) under my armpit to warm it up. When it is warm, I swab my injection site, wait a while until it dries, and then wait a moment or so longer. I pinch the site fairly tightly, and slowly introduce the needle until it's fully engaged. I totally releast my skin-pinch and move my hand from my flesh. Then, slowly, I press in the plunger. When the syringe is empty, I wait a moment (count to 5) and I slowly pull the needle out.

For two weeks, this has worked fine. I noticed I'd have a little sting at the very end, but it was minimal discomfort, a little more when in my belly.

Yesterday, I injected into my belly, fairly distant from my BB. This time, it hurt. It really hurt. But I kept to protocol. Slow and steady. A couple of inches of my lily-white, british-isles-fair-skin reddened and remained red for at least one half hour (I didn't check after that).

So, today, I returned to my thighs. Followed protocol. The injection was painful at the outset and I could feel it seep into my tissues. I went slowly. It continued to hurt and sting, a real yowzer as I felt the fluid radiate up and down my thigh. Oww. Worse than yesterday, but my thigh skin isn't as clearly pink, just slightly discolored.

Does anyone have a clue what could be happening? I left the Hucog out overnight on Friday. Could it have gone "bad?" Should I inject more, or less, or mix a new batch (I have only 5000 units and wish I had some 2000 Hucogs). Has my body become resistant? Is it dangerous to continue? Do I need to angle down more? All sorts of questions come to mind!

Is there anything I can do to prevent this from occurring again? Have you had this experience and found a way to solve the problem?

I always just jab it in without a pinch. I think pinching hurts more. And the thigh will always hurt more than the belly. The only time I've had any pain or bruising was if I hit a blood vessel, not a common occurrence. Make sure you are injecting about an inch out from your navel on either side and down about that distance as well.

Hmm. In the belly, I've been very careful to be 2-3 inches from navel. And, I guess I'm different from you since my belly hurts more than my thigh. I guess everyone is different.

The thing that perplexes me most is the sudden change from just a tiny sting to sudden big, longterm sting and pain. I'm trying to figure out what caused the change and, natch, how to stop it! I stay away from blood vessels and avoid stabbing down as in IM.

It sounds to me like you got into a blood vessel in your leg, thats why you felt it go down your thigh. The other issues are subcutaneous nerves that you are getting close to. Move away from the places that have gotten ouch....either go closer or further away from BB...since you are 3 inches away, its ok to move an inch back towards it. Also, have you changed to a different type of syringe? some needles seem to be not as sharp as others, and they can hurt more. I don't know which brands do that, I think its different for different people....but Ive seen this if folks change brands of syringes. Hope this helps.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot! I'm using everything the same. And I'm pale-skinned and see all my veins (and avoid them). And the insertion of the needle doesn't hurt at all. It's the infusion of the hCG solution.

Unless it is dangerous, I will continue to inject this batch. Tomorrow, I'll monitor the angle of the injection and report back.

I'm sure a few hours out have nothing to do with the pain and your solution should be fine. Injecting a different amount won't change the pain either. It will just make you hungry.

You cant see the little tiny viens...you can only see the main ones, even with thin skin. I don't think sitting out for one night would cause any harm. There is some preservative in the bac water, so you should be fine. Try moving alittle over from the spot that hurts. I bet its an irritated nerve ending.

Barb and I have both told you it should be fine. It happens sometimes. Like Barb said it has a preservative in it. It was only out overnight. That's the few hours out.

Okay, if it's not dangerous and I'm not having some super-sensitive reaction, I'll just keep on as before.

If you start having hunger, then you know it's losing potency from being left out. Which might happen if it was left out 24 hours. You'd said overnight so that was just a few hours which probably wouldn't make it lose potency. But 24 hours might. But it still wouldn't have anything to do with the pain.

I agree with colleen, 24 hours might harm the potency, but wont make it sting or cause an infection at this point....but you should pitch it and mix another batch, because you will have potency problems and sterility issues soon if you don't. Generally, unrefrigerated meds like this are good for 24 hrs out of the fridge...so you can get away with overnight, if its just overnight and not a full 24 hrs. These are hospital guidelines, which we try to recommend here on the forum to promote safety. Hope this helps.

Sorry I didn't voice my concerns more clearly. I inject first thing in the morning (thought that was protocol), so overnight meant from injection time on.

As for pain, I will try angling down more to see if that helps. I notice that not only have you experts had no pain/sting problem, but there are no other first or second rounders who have had this problem or experience. So, it sure seems I must have changed my technique, and will report back if aiming down more fixes the problem.

Update: Hucog and sterile water continued to sting atrociously and redden my skin for up to an hour. Mixed new batch but I had terrible sting/pain that had me yowling out loud. Continued until I received new order of Corion and bacteriostatic water.

Now, Day 2 on Corion, there is NO pain. I stick needle straight in, as Grammy says. Inject. And it is FINE!

The only conclusion I can draw is that perhaps I have a sensitivity either to Hucog or to the "sterile water" or that my freakin "princess and the pea" skin simply prefers Corion!

An added benefit--released TWO POUNDS in one day! I'll be interested to see if this continues, as I'm going for the 40 days to get off my last 7 pounds. (So maybe my body as a whole, prefers Corion).

Do you all use the tiny, insulin needles, or do you use longer ones?

Lolly, I use the insulin needles. I inject subcutaneously, not intramuscularly. Hope this helps.

Make sure the alcohol you wipe the bottle with, and your skin, completely dries. Wet alcohol can burn, sting, irritate.

Also make sure you inject more then 2 inches from your navel. Too close will hit nerves an cause unneeded pain.

Sounds like a dull needle to me. At least, that's what bothered me last Spring. I had a run of dull needles.

Ooops, didn't see the additional thoughts from others. But I'll stand by my own conclusion that there was something about either the Hucog or the "sterile water" that caused the severe pain and stinging that was unrelated to the location or the injection. It was the fluid. The Corion and bacteriostatic water are as amazingly painless as described by Colleen and others.
