Default Consistently Stopped Up
Apologies in advance for the not-so-pleasant subject of this question...

I've been in P4 now for around 2 months, and I keep consistently getting "stopped up". I've tried Smooth Muve tea and natural (vegetable based) laxatives, but those make me miserable for the whole next day before I get any relief. It's even worse during TOM, however happens at least once a week.

Before HCG, I ate a ton of fruits and vegetables, but I'm really having to stay mostly P3 eating in order to maintain my weight. This is okay with me, however obviously I must not be getting enough fiber. I'm eating 2 fruits a day, and probably around 3 servings of veggies. Any more than that and I seem to gain.

Is there a good non-sugar fiber supplement I can try that maybe will be easier on my tummy than the laxative option?

On a happier note, I've managed to maintain at 1.5lbs above my LDW for the most part. The good comes with some bad.

Magnesium citrate or magnesium malate works really well. The former you can get in a powder to make into a nice drink. The latter you can take as supplements at night.

Most people are deficient in magnesium anyway. If you take too much, it will just run straight through you (as will Vitamin C) so don't worry about that.

Thanks guys!
I'm going to pick these up tonight and will report back on how they work.

Out of curiousity, is this a common issue for others? I've never had this problem before the diet.

I like to use Mag Cit for emergencies because i can up the dose and have it work in the AM if i take it late at night, but for regular (every other day or every two days) movement I use Cascara Sagrada. It promotes peristalsis (instead of forcing your body to expel the magnesium because it can't be digested) and is very gentle, but shouldn't be taken more than 7 days in a row and takes about 6-12 hours to work. I'm not sure what stores sell them, but I get mine online. It's helped me a lot in p2 and 3.

I have found that I suffer from this problem throughout all the stages, but I can say nothing cements my sphincter closed faster than almonds... almond meal, almond paste, natural, salted , it doesn't matter but almonds are a killer. I just take Prunelax. It works great and helps prevent the clogging lol. It was really awful the last two rounds and I am a little more proactive this time. So far so good.
