I have a relative interested in pursuing weight loss through HCG. However, she has just finished a 40 day fast. Her weight dropped from 212lbs to 169lbs during that time. So far she has maintained that loss for a couple of weeks eating a high raw, super clean diet. She wishes to drop another 35-40lbs (she is 5'2) with hcg. Is this even possible? I would think that going from not eating at all, to raw/clean eating, to eating the 500 calories + meat on HCG would make her gain or at best, not lose at all. Am I wrong in my thinking or is HCG a protocol that can "fix" our metabolisms even after the havoc of a fast?

Hcg is a different weight loss path than a fast. It would work but --- I wouldn't recommend it anytime soon. I would think your relative needs to eat healthy, get a lot of rest, get bloodwork done to check her vitamins etc - before embarking on any further weight loss. In other words I'd make sure she is physically recovered from the fast first. Then yes - Hcg works really well.

It would work but she should load about a week on hcg. From Pounds and Inches:
Patients whose general condition is low, owing to excessive previous dieting, must eat to capacity for about oneweek before starting treatment, regardless of how much weight they may gain in the process. One cannot keepa patient comfortably on 500 Calories unless his normal fat reserves are reasonably well stocked. |

Wow, I cannot imagine a week of loading. Just thinking about my loading days last month make me gag. I will share the info about the extended loading time. Her fast was actually supervised by some homeopathic "doctor" :-/ I'm trying to help her see the light that there is a way to lose safely without literally starving. Thanks for the information, ladies.
