I have read lots of questions on this forum about tuna, but they almost always deal with canned tuna.
We catch a lot of tuna offshore (yellowfin, or you might call it ahi). It has 30 calories, .2 g of fat, 6.6 g of protein and almost no cholesterol or sodium per ounce. I am curious if anyone has ever eaten fresh tuna on P2? I am not going to eat dolphin (mahi-mahi) even though we catch a lot and some in the freezer, as it is high in cholesterol. But I surely am going to miss my fresh tuna. |

I ate a yellowfin steak early in my round with no issues. It's been said that the reason it's not on the original protocol is that tuna back in Dr S's day was only available canned in oil, so it was an automatic no-no. I think it's fine now as a steak, and some people do canned in water with no problems. Maybe try it out for one meal and keep an eye on the scale to see if it trips you up, but I don't really see an issue with it. I tend to be a bit rogue anyway, but I've still had great losses so far!

I have eaten 4 oz of sushi grade yellowfin as a protein portion in P2. I sear it and make a wasabi sauce. Then make a cucumber salad on the side with rice wine vinegar, dill, lemon juice, and a bit of stevia. It's a P2 friendly version of this http://hcg-diet-journey.blogspot.com...ber-salad.html. If you mix veggies you could do the original recipe without the oil.

Oh Beth, that sounds great! I would usually have tuna or dolphin 3 times a month or so (more in the summer after we have gone fishing and it's fresh). I love it seared, grilled, blackened chunks over salad, and - omg this is terrible - cut in chunks, battered and deep fried! Haven't done that in years though; that was when we were young and didn't know any better.
Ok, then, I will try it and see how it goes! |

I eat lots of mahi mahi. P2 and at all times of the year. Cholesterol doesn't matter. What matters is whether we have inflammation in our bodies. The doctors wanting to put everyone on a statin drug is just plain stupid. My parents both had heart attacks with LOW cholesterol. When your C-Reactive Protein and homeocystein levels are high, you have inflammation. Then your body takes whatever cholesterol it can find and pads the arteries with it for protections. Reduce the inflammation and all is well.
![]() so eat all that mahi mahi you like! It's yummy! I'm going to get right from the sea when we go to Hawaii in two weeks. ![]() |

That is good news on the dolphin!
And yes, Annie, I wouldn't want people to think I was eating Flipper. Around here, it's only in restaurants that it's called mahi-mahi - for the tourists - otherwise they wouldn't order it! And omg I am so jealous of Hawaii!!! I would LOVE to go there! (And think of how much more comfortable you will be with the 78 pounds gone! Airline seats, sweating, thighs rubbing together and chafing when you walk, tight bras, not being so breathless when you walk. Even if you forget all the health benefits from weight loss, think of all the COMFORT benefits from weight loss! Yay you!) |

We go usually once a year. We LOVE Hawaii. I was researching my Aloha Reef novels set there and my daughter met her husband on Kauai. He was her divemaster/boat captain.
![]() You're right, it's much easier to fly without that extra weight. I've been at this normal weight now for 2 years. ![]() |

Two years? That is very inspiring. I do worry about keeping this great loss off for the long haul.
He left Hawaii for Phoenix?!?! Yeah, what a guy!! And he was a water guy, and that must be REALLY hard on him to go to a desert. He must think your D is something special. I will have to check out your books; I didn't know you were a novelist. Another thing to be jealous of. In the summer, I wear a lot of sundresses and am outside a lot at various sports functions. At baseball, I walk a LOT and it is always hot and humid and I sweat. I gained about 20 pounds last year and was horrified to notice how much my thighs rubbed walking and how much Lady Butt Crack powder I had to put down there. My mom said "Well, why do you think I wear shorts and capris so much when it's hot, and not dresses?" Makes sense to me now. So getting back to my dresses and skirts is a big deal to me, if for nothing but the comfort. |
