Imagine eating beef franks on P2!
I am getting tired of the meat selection, and I cannot prepare beef/chicken in a way that is appetizing enough. So I looked online and found these Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks.
http://www.epinions.com/review/Hebre...t_430341590660 I should just stay the course the way I have been; it has worked. 24 lbs down in 19 days! However, I need to bring flavor back into my life. Each frank is 49 grams, so to do the math, 4 franks a day; the calories are what you'd expect from chicken breast, the fat and carb content is really low as well. Does anyone see a reason not to use these? |
Beef, water, modified food starch*, salt, hydrolyzed soy protein, spice, paprika, potassium chloride, natural flavorings, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite.
*Ingredient in excess of amount permitted in regular beef franks. The starch and the soy glare out at me as reasons not to. Also the sodium is very high. |
So is it because they will cause gain or because they are bad for you in general? Thanks for the reply!

The modified food starch would definitely not be on protocol.
Ultimately the choice is yours to make. I just pointed out the reasons I wouldn.t use them. |
Maybe the applegate hot dogs might work. I dont have them at home to look at the ingredients but when I eat hot dogs those are the ones that I eat. I haven't tried them in p2.
|
The problem with applegate would be the calories. 56 grams of hotdog has 110 calories (80 from fat). I guess I'm not doing hot dogs then http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

Have you looked at Takisha's Chef & Foodie thread? She has some amazing recipes that might help you put some flavor into your dishes. Here: Chef and foodie here...

That's too bad. I won't be eating them either on p2.
If you can stick to the protocol it is better. For me towards the end of the round I have the hardest time eating my meat. I could barely swallow my food, I have to chase it down with water. I tried the jay robb shakes a couple of times, which I did well with. This round I will try fage as a substitue as well. It would be a tremendous help if it would help. If anyone else has successfully tried other subsitutes, please share. I need all the help I can get. I am supposed to start p2 on Tuesday. It only happens at the end of the round. I was maybe even thinking of doing shorter rounds. I have to admit I eat most of the same foods and I squeeze all of the fat out of the meats with paper towels so the meat comes out dry. |

just make sure that your spices don't have extra ingredients... like, garlic salt has modified corn starch... but you could use garlic,... and salt.....
|
Also watch out for spices with maltodextrin, dextrose and such. I wanted to buy some spices barbecue rub for my meats and found that a lot have brown sugar and maltodextrin and even sugar its appauling. I never had an idea how much sugar I was eating in my food before this diet
|
Why not applegate? (I like them because animals raised humanely) about 240 cal for 100 grams, so seems ok. ? Even though fat percentage is high?

Maybe guys can get away with hot dogs better? When I start, hot dogs will be a thing for P4 lifetime (in small doses). Everyone needs to decide for themselves!
