I'm not losing....please help me
Hello everyone, newbie in desperate need for your help. I've read other post about ppl not losing and still don't have the answer for my question. I've been on the diet since last Thursday and I've only lost 6pds including the 2 I gained for gorging. I've been eating a George Foreman chicken breast with Delmonte's canned spinach(30 cal per 1/2c I eat the whole can equals to about 120-180) every day. I also eat a red grapefruit and drink two cups of no sugar yerba mate tea(5 cal) and about 40oz of water (I'm working my way up to 90oz). I take 15 drops 3x/day and I also take sub b12. I have to force myself to finish the chicken because I'm not a every day meat eater. I can eat spinach every day but meat, blah..... Please tell me what I'm doing wrong? My co worker had great success on this diet (she lost 23 pds in 20 days and look amazing) oh and I did have 6 strawberries w/ Jay Robb whey protein in a blender mixed with water yesterday but no grapefruit. Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

Well I don't think you're doing anything wrong that I can see. One thing you might try is to to switch it up a bit, try a sirloin steak once in a while or a piece of fish. Try using fresh spinach instead of the canned stuff. Have sliced tomatoes or cucumbers instead. You're actually doing OK. The other thing to ask yourself, are you constipated? Are you close to time of month? Our bodies all have so many variables and it is hard to figure out what works best for us as individuals.

Nika, don't rush things or give up! It took me 78-days to lose 25-pounds, (3-sizes). It will happen, just stick with it and stay strong.

In addition to what has been already said--
Does your B-12 have any form of sugar in it? Fructose? Are you weighing your protein? Have you read and followed Dr. Simeons' protocol? The average loss for women is 0.5-0.75 a day, so you are doing great. Read all you can and stick to the plan. It will work. |
Nika - I would also suggest you up your water 40oz isn't enough to help flush the fat out. You need to drink at least 50oz of water per 100 pounds. Your ticker says you weigh 188 so you should be drinking almost 100oz of water (not good with math so much) I know it's hard but add squeezed limes, lemon & they also sell flavored stevia. I use Ultima Replenisher to get down at least 1liter of my water. It's all natural has tons of vitamins, electrolytes, magnesium etc & stevia so it fits protocol. Calories are about 36 per serving which is 8 to 12 ounces but I usually put 1 scoop (which is the serving) in 1 liter of water. It can get pretty strong if you use it to their scale. It's a little pricey but it's delicious, lasts a long time & a natural healthy choice for P2.

WATER WATER WATER! That can make a HUGE difference! For one, you need at least half your body weight in water and that alone will help. Two... check the sodium on your canned spinach and I bet you will need to increase water to account for that as well. You need to eat all 500 calories, if you arent a meat eater, look into the other proteins such as eggs and cottage cheese (again take sodium into consideration), I didnt sub those things but I know a lot of vegetarians do.
You are still at 1# per day loss so I think you are right on track and just expecting bigger results, which you might see if you make a few changes. Trust me, Im a camel, I dont need or drink water unless forced so that part of the diet is hard for me so I know how hard it is, but 40 oz is not NEARLY enough. I lost 2 pounds in my first 5 days and when I increased my water I dropped 5 pounds the next day because my body just needed that water to flush it out. Try eating 2 different proteins, 2 different veggies and 2 different fruits. When you say 1 Grapefruit, are you eating it all at once? Thats a no-no, its too much sugar. Hope this helps! |
Oh and if I were you, I would not experiment with anything off protocol, such as shakes just yet. Its your first round and first week, give the true protocol a chance before you add things in. But thats just my opinion.

I dont see anything wrong but I do agree about the Jay Robb shake and adding more variety to your diet.
Comparing yourself to others is a the kiss of death not only in dieting but in everything in life. Your body is different then your friends body. It has different needs and wants, different likes and dislikes and thats how it should be. I think you are doing great. I know we all hope for a pound a day or better but any loss is good and when you get to the end of the protocol and see how far you have come and how wonderful you look and feel it wont matter if your friend got there 3 days faster then you. CCLady, so don't eat chicken every day, try steak and fish? I like tilapia I'm going to see how well the foreman grills it. I don't have regular bm's so I never thought about going a few days without having one. Should I take something to help it along? Should I drain it and then put it in the pan? I really like spinach. I put bag/fresh spinach in my smoothies too and like it a lot. And I'm not sure about my sub b-12, I will check the label. I also have prescription b-12 but can't give myself an injection so I have my co worker give them to me every week....when I'm not slacking. Jan, I'm trying my best to up my water. One day I'll do good, then the next 3 days I'm barely getting 20oz in. I'm going to set my cell phone reminder for every 1/2 hr for me to drink at least 8oz of water until I reach half my body weight. Maybe that'll be easier for me. And I'm going to buy lemons and limes to add in my water too. Can I buy that powder at Vitamin Shoppe? Jeneelyn, can I eat boiled eggs since I can't have scrambled w/ cheese yet? A typical serving of tilapia has almost 15 grams of fat. I recommend albacore, cod, or mahi mahi, prepared without oils or fats.
Also try taking probiotics. They help with regular BMs. Most of all, read Dr. Simeon's guide so you know what you are doing. Quote:

You can cook fish easily in a "packet" in the oven or a toaster oven, and it's so moist! Put the fish on a piece of aluminum foil, add spices and/or fresh squeezed lemon juice (I like dill with my fish) and fold the foil over to make a closed "packet" to put in the oven. Cook for about 15 to 20 minutes at 3:50 and yum, it's done!

I'm still struggling with my water intake and I think it's mainly because of my job. I'm a paramedic and sometimes a bathroom is not available when I need it. I've been drinking 2c of yerba mate tea (I stopped today because I just read about it causing throat cancer) So I'm going to stick to green tea. I eat an apple a day with cinnamon because I'm not an apple person so the cinnamon helps me to eat them. It seems like since I've changed my meats like you've suggested my weight loss has been ok. I don't look or feel bloated. Oh and I've drank a cup of smooth tea last night and it worked. DO I drink that every night or only when needed? I do think I'm taking too much HCG drops/pellets. I don't know why I think more is better. I'm going to stay on the diet for 40days instead of 23. Although, when I look in the mirror, I don't see the results *I think it's because I see myself every day*. Some of my co workers have noticed and my uniform isn't tight like it once was. For those loving the talapia: make sure you are getting it from a good, reliable source. Pretty much all talapia is farmed. If it comes for south America or China, chances are pretty good there are things in it you dont want to be putting in your body.
