Default I forgot my lunch at home! Now what?
I was in a rush to leave for work this morning. All that I was able to remember to take with me was my coffee and a apple. I'm on day 3 of VLCD and I forgot my lunch at home, Boo! Is there anything from anywhere that would be a suitable substitute? I was thinking about sashimi of the leanest fish? Would tuna or yellow tail be okay? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi- I may have missed your lunch hour by now, but here are my two cents. :-)

Sashimi could work, with a white fish. Sounds yummy! Keep the soy sauce to a minimum. Another thing you could do is get a grilled chicken salad from somewhere, pick out any unapproved toppings and use salt and pepper for seasoning.

In a pinch, I have grabbed four ounces of turkey lunchmeat from the deli and I did fine.

Good luck!

I went with the yellow tail sashimi and a salad plain. It tasted so good and it turns out it did good for me. I weighed myself today and I'm down 1.1lbs. So happy!

I always keep a couple of cans of canned chicken and canned tomatoes (no salt added) in my drawer at work just in case. You'll have to be diligent about reading the ingredients but you should be able to find some that are on-protocol. Mix the chicken and the tomatoes with some Italian seasoning, throw it in the microwave, and you're good to go. HTH!

This post is 'like waaaaaaay past your lunch hour,' it's only a suggestion. Every Monday I bring in six days of food, enough for each day and the following Monday, in case I get in a pinch/rush and forget my food (just remember to eat the sixth meal first, so it doesn't lose freshness). Do you have fridge space that would allow you to do that?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I picked up a can of chicken the last time I went to the market. So, now I have my emergency pack ready.

Nix - I do have a fridge. I don't know why I haven't thought about doing that. Do you bring in a few different items to choose from or do you pack the same meal?

I like variety in the meats, so yes some chicken, filet, pork tenderloin (I'm in P3) and apples (I don't like any of the other approved fruits).

Suggestion for forgetting lunch or eating out. My father has recently been in the hospital and my mother and I are both in P2, so we would be down to the cafeteria and do the salad bar. I ended up mixing a lot of vegetables, but lost more than a pound the next day! My salad consisted of hardboiled egg, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onions and than fresh salsa as a dressing. It was delicious! I didn't feel like I was eating "diet" food!

Ummmmmm, I need to lodge a complaint somewhere.......my lunches are GONE!! The only thing I can even fathom is one, or several of the moving crew ate them last night (our floor is being recarpeted, painted, etc., so we have a lot of strange folks running around at night). Seriously, why-why-why-WHY??? All I have left is one green apple, so basically they ate three days worth of my food. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggg

Now I'm in a lurch, bloody thieves!!!

Nix,
That is so wrong! We used to have a big problem with stolen food at our office and never knew if it was the night crew or other co-workers. Seems like there's always some lurker trying to sneak off with free food. A big BOO to them. ;-)
