Default I am either quitting or going rogue...
I came to the point today where I decided I can't do this... like this... anymore. I am getting injections. I first wanted my money back because I have paid for seven weeks. Now I am thinking I may do some kind of higher calorie diet with the hcg. Possibly 1000-1200 or so calories of healthy food to make this manageable. Has anyone gone with more calories and continued to lose, with the hcg injections? Also I don't know where to post this, I don't want to debate, I am just looking for any stories of people who have done this on a slightly higher calorie diet. Thank you!!!

I have eaten more than the 500 calories. On my first round, I didn't weigh or measure anything. I probably ate double my protein portions and I still lost. I would guess I was at 800 or 900 calories daily.

This round, I decided that I just cannot live with only one tablespoon of milk daily, because staring into a cup of black coffee just depresses me. So I've gone slightly rogue and I'm having 3-4 tablespoons. Still losing.

In my opinion, you should tweak it so you can live with it, instead of giving up. This can be really challenging and you have to be able to live with it, even if that means not being strictly protocol. Just go slow with your tweaks and make sure they'll work for you.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you're doing!

I've thought of growing in the towel cuz the veggie selection is the pits! None of my favs are here...cauliflower&broccli...i've tried broccli& worst of all some nut buttet..i stall or gain..worst of all the restriction made me crazy &i went off protocol...BIG mistake. 5lb gain. So back to basics I go...though I'm tempted to add back broccli or cauliflower again...let me know how your doing!

ACTUALLY kc2011 - what are you finding so difficult?? Do you have hunger? If so, that's a dosing problem and can be corrected. Just because something gets difficult it doesn't mean you throw in the towel without even trying to fix it for gosh sakes. What issues are you running into that's making this protocol so unbearable?? Yes, some increase calories - BUT - they are working out or at goal or skipping fruits and grissinis.

At a minimum you really need to stay on hCG for 23 days to prevent quick weight gain afterwards.

A very good point... I wonder is it because of hunger. Now truly I suffer from a very active imagination where food is concerned. I think about it a lot lol. But somehow, some way I am able to reign it in and stick to my plan... If you are so hungry and miserable you are considering throwing in the towel, you definitely should be considering adjusting your dose.

This plan will work for you but you may have to tweak your dose.

Hi bluetechseeker! As for problems, I have hunger, weakness and low blood sugar symptoms. I can't go anywhere or clean my house because I am so weak. As an active person with two small kids that's not really acceptable to me. I have followed the protocol to the nth degree until my provider told me to up my protein which I did a little. I did unlimited greens. Added water. Upped my dosage. I haven't exactly thrown in the towel without even trying to fix it... but I appreciate your concern!

I am no stranger to diets and have done many, successfully, except for the keeping it off forever thing. This has been the hardest one I've ever done and that includes starvation (which is not pleasant either and def isn't healthy). I wasn't even as hungry then. I feel like the tiny bit of calories is just stoking my hunger and weakness. I lost weight through two pregnancies and thought the hcg would do the same thing... so far it's not.

I don't want people to get me wrong either. I am not complaining about my weight loss... it's been steady. It's just the gnawing hunger and weakness! I have a history of low blood sugar and (gulp) gestational diabetes and I know the difference between hunger and being "empty" kwim? Like I know I'm not craving foods, I just need more fuel. And I WANT this to work you know? I've invested time and money into this and want it to work so, so bad. Even before I ever heard of the hcg diet I would talk to my husband about, why wasn't I hungry when I was pregnant, and why do I lose weight when I'm pregnant when most people gain? It's bizarre I tell ya!

OK girlfriend from another woman who knows exactly what you're talking about. Get your dose right.... and straight up, I will tell you this is a like a balancing act. If you're weak up your protein a little. if you get kind of feeling like the blood sugar is too low eat an apple, during R1 I always had an apple with me. The feeling of weakness is gone in R2 for me, but I know what you are talking about.

Your dose is off and eating more won't fix that. That gnawing hunger will still be there no matter how much you eat. What dose are you taking?

Oh heavens! That's a ridiculously high dose. No wonder you're starving. Skip your dose tomorrow. Then take it between 125 and 150.

I will add my story since you were looking for stories... I 1st started through the clinics on R1 they had me at 1000 1200 calories... and for 3 weeks I GAINED weight & wasted SO much money! I found this forum, read the book & then lost 25 pounds! It took me awhile to get my dose right... I am at 125 as well & I feel great, no weakness, not really any hunger & my mood is very up & chipper!

So like Grammy says... get your dose right & you will be feeling great!

Do what grammy suggested first, she knows her stuff.

If that doesnt help the only tips I can give you is increasing your protein a lot. I went up to 4.5 to 5 oz of chicken or fish. Beef I only increased by 1/2 ounce. I did eat lean ground turkey with no problem losing.

While coconut oil is not on plan I used it to cook sparingly and had coco crack once in a great while. It does increase your energy. I only had one time that I stalled a bit with the coconut oil but after that I lost around the same or more the next day so I cant contribute that gain to the coco crack anymore.

Sometimes if things are not working for you, you just have to search for what will work for you. Dont give up, try some more adjustments first. Oh and my son is using vanilla protein powder in his coffee and loves it for those not wanting to give up there creamers and milk. He has lost 12 pounds in under ten days eating more protein and eating coco crack.

Liz

FWIW, I had blood sugar issues too and went rogue half way through my first round. I mixed veggies, and I ate a hard boiled egg every morning. Sometimes I had extra protein too. I did not eat the grissini or melba at all. My calories ranged between 600-700 and I lost well, and stabilized well. If I ate 1000-1200 cal, I would not lose weight, but below 800 I would lose weight. I probably would have lost more if I'd stuck to protocol, but I'm not in any kind of a big hurry as long as the scale is moving in the right direction. Everyone is different though, and YMMV.

Adding coconut oil this last round really helped with weakness/fogginess (I didn't have hunger issues but definitely felt "off"). I think it slowed my losses some but it could have been the other rogue things I did.

For the most part I stayed within the protocol, the slight variance away from it was simply so i could get through it with the last of what i needed to lose. I did not reach goal and I did not lose much but I did learn better discipline and lost inches .. I am 6 pnds from my goal but my size is exactly where it was before any gains so i am where I should be technically and really the scale/weight is just a mental thing, im not stressin as long as i can feel happy healthy and fit in my clothes i am ok with my decisions ... you know we all say this and that, do this dont do that but what it boils down to is YOU! what makes you feel good inside and out? if you cannot reach your ideal goal but you feel happy where you are then why push it? Do what you can do do what makes you happy and do what you yourself can handle and accomplish and be happy with that ultimately you are the only one that can find happiness in where you are so with that said.................i did NOT count calories i ate when i wanted to eat which was mainly when i was hungry but i ate foods that were either on protocol or if i went off i went off small and right back on track or just did fine with a small turn like eating eggs instead of meat type deal...it worked for me ... do what is best for you...try to finish the round and if raising your calories is going to help then that is what i would do ... it beats quitting before the min 23 day requirement - u know what i mean?
