Isometric exercises offer limited improvement and only in that position. Calf raises would be much better, what you actually need to do is work your feet. Lay out a hand towel flat on the floor, put your heel on one edge and "scrunch" your toes to bring the opposite edge to your toes. Pick up marbles with your toes and put them in a bucket. Practice dynamic stretching of pointing and flexing your feet, as well as ankle circles. Finally, practice marching.

If you go to a gym use a calf raise machine, if not do them on a platform one leg at a time.

I believe one of the basic calf exercises mostly overlooked is biking. Plus, it does not only concentrate on the calf area only but also with the knees and helps your respiratory system since it reduces the risk of heart diseases. During one of these Christopher Guerriero diet coaching, he has mentioned it too that biking is simply a more relaxed jogging minus the pain on the knees.

Aside from calf exercises, rocking and lunges also help. Good thing is, you don't need any equipment to do all these so you can do it anywhere.
