Great piece. In one of our newspapers, The Australian, at the weekend there was an article about researching ancient DNA from plaque on teeth, but the interesting bit was what the researcher, Alan Cooper, Director of The Australian Centre for Ancient DNA at the University of Adelaide, is paraphrased as saying - below:

"Cooper and his team intend to investigate numerous samples that are about 9000 years old. That's roughly when agriculture began and the human diet changed from a mixed hunting and gathering diet to a more modern carbohydrate-based one. As Cooper points out, the dramatic shift coincides with the emergence of important medical conditions, including diabetes, heart disease and hypertension."

Great article. Too bad we I haven't been doing this for years. Atkins got really bad press back in 1972 when I was on it. Too bad I didn't stick with it and I would be a happy camper today.

Thanks for sharing.
