Why exercise

  • Exercise speeds up the metabolic rate, that is the rate we burn off calories even after exercise is over.
  • Energy output increases during exercise.
  • Exercise increases the amount of muscle in your body, which burns up more energy than fat when the body is active or at rest.
  • Fat is lost from the whole body only when energy output exceeds input, so change your metabolism and your body composition by exercising.
  • We become fat if we take in too much fuel and do not expend it.

I totally agree with you mikaela! Taking too much fuel and not using them will make us fat because all those food will be stored in our body instead of it getting burned with physical activities. Joining in a sports activity is also another way of exercise if the thought of "exercise" makes you feel lazy already http://www.dietforums.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png

My personal form of exercise is dancing. I don't feel lazy at all and it keeps me active. It makes me happy about what I a doing too http://www.dietforums.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png

Those are great form of exercises! I actually love to walk or jog with my dog in the morning. It gives me a happy and comforting feeling because I'm spending time with my dog and keeping myself fit. I also so some sit ups at home for a flat belly and it works fine with me http://www.dietforums.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Try belly dancing. It's gentle yet very effective and fun exercise. It improves your posture too and tones your muscles. Unlike ballet which has a tendency to deform the skeleton, belly dancing is based on movements that comes naturally. That's why it is an ideal exercise for all ages.

Belly dancing? I haven't tried that yet. I've seen videos about it and it looks difficult to do. But I will definitely give it a try.

I don't go to the gym but I make sure that I get enough exercise at home like jogging inside the house and walking my dog.
