Ideal BMI?

What is an ideal BMI for a 30 something guy, 5 foot 7 inches tall?

Can they be accurate to assess body weight as surely body structure is not factored in....?

You need to provide your height and weight to determine your BMI.

Once you determine your BMI you can see what it means:

BMI:
Under 18.5* - Underweight

18.5* - 25 - Healthy Weight

25 - 30 - Overweight

30 - 40 - Obese

Over 40 - Severely obese

So an ideal BMI is between 18.5 and 25.

Thanks.

I guess there is a reasonable degree of error though - depending upon body frame..

Yes, I think there is a problem with this.

If you are very muscular and weigh xx amount vs having a lot of fat and weighing the same amount....

I think this is just a very very rough estimate... you can go to a nutritionist or some gyms / dr who can actually give you an accurate measurement..

Body Mass Index or BMI is a tool for indicating weight status in adults. It is a measure of weight for height. I created a a different thread on how to calculate your BMI, but here is the link though for you. I hope this helps http://www.dietforums.com/images/smilies/smile.png
