I just did the math for us in the USA: about 5'3" and 132 pounds, want to be around 121 pounds, so 10-11 US pounds to lose. I'm about where you are! After losing 33 pounds, I now need to lose the last 7-8 to be 125, and currently am about 132.

It's doable! Good luck!

I have to be fanatical about sugar. Do the sausages you're eating have sugar? Even a little bit of sugar stops my weight loss. Sometimes it's the little hidden sugar that creeps with on us. You're doing great!

Thanks very much! It just takes sticking to it. I love the plan so much I don't ever see me going wild when I am goal weight.

Good luck...keep in touch!

I hate to say it Rene but the sugar-free water might be hurting you too. They usually contain some kind of sugar substitute. Try getting just plain old water in.

Yes I bought some fizzy mineral water yesterday and am taking it to work too that should be ok at leats the fizzyness gives a bit of a kick when you drink it and it tastes nice too.

Rene...any good news to report? I'd love to hear the "Whoosh Fairy" visited and waved her wand for a 2-4 pound loss! You are due!

One other thought - you don't mention what you are doing for exercise. Change something up or add exercise to your routine.

Hi , yes I do excercise I go running twice weekly, thats why I wanted some advice on what to eat to give me that extra energy so I don't feel exhausted too early as normally I might have a banana or some porridge before which I can't have at the moment as I am still in induction.

Default am I doing something wrong???
I am new too just started on low carb diet 8 days ago eating eggs and bacon in the morning, tuna (brine drained) with mayonnaise full fat at lunch, sugar free jelly with full fat cream for pudding, I also have had (not all in one day) chicken or beef stroganoff cooked in chicken or beef stock, than added 1 red pepper and 150gr mushrooms and one red onion and put full fat cream in. I have eaten this on its own without pasta or potatoes etc. In that week I have had sausages which were 5.7 gr carbs for two when grilled (which I did) with 2 or 3 florets of broccoli and some mayo and once this week I had 1 portion of fresh salmon cooked in the microwaive with butter and eaten it with a handfull of green lettuce Today for dinner I have had half an avocado, 40 gr cucumber, half a red pepper 70 gr feta cheese with a tablespoon of mayo these are the kind of things I have eaten during this first week am I doing something wrong???
Sould I give it more time????

It sounds like you are eating the right things. Are you getting in your water? You really need to get in all of your water. Have you lost any weight at all???

I didn't see a lot of veggies daily, like 2 cups of salad greens and 1 cup of veggies, but you may be doing that. That's what Induction calls for. And drink lots and lots of water. IF you don't drink water, you won't lose as well...odd as that seems.

I have no clue why you have not dropped weight. I would definitely give it some more time. Not knowing your starting weight, it's hard to say what you might lose. Usually (not always) folks with more weight to lose have the highest initial losses.

Hang in there with us and don't cheat...that is the "kiss of death" for Atkins. Good luck! Post back and let us know your successes and your concerns. That is what we are here for!

Hi again thanks for your reply sorry I forgot to mention my starting weight its 60 Kg and I am 161 cm tall so haven't got loads to loose would like to go down to 55-54 Kg. Yes I do find it hard to drink water well I got myself still sugar free flavoured water thats easier to drink as it tastes nicer. But will drink a bit more from now on. Plus its nice to know that I can have maybe a little more veggies as you mentioned that I might not eat enough. But don't worry I will be careful and I know which ones to eat which ones to stay away from.
So thanksyou!!!

I am not new to Atkins and have had plenty of success with it the past. However...it goes the same for me each time...slow...slow..slow. I am totally accurate and faithful...drink tons of water everyday. I test my ketosis level with the strips and never get past "small"...usually just a trace!! I know that I have a slow metabolism but it seems that I should get into Ketosis burning state at some time??? I eventually lose but I have to stay with it faithfully for 3 months before seeing anything more then about 8-10lb. difference. HELP!! How can I kick my metabolism??

I am puzzled...you started this time around with only a little to lose, right? 10-11 US pounds (I hope I calculated right.) You are eating only 20 carbs 12-15 of them veggies every day.

My ONLY guess is you have very little fat left for the body to address! The big losses we are used to when we start are often a lot of water held by the cells that is gotten rid of when we go into fat-burning mode. Perhaps that is why you don't appear to be in ketosis (but never having used the strips, I have no idea.) I'm thinking you cannot have the BIG loss we get when we start 30+ or more pounds overweight, because it is harder for your system to "find" the fat.

Does anyone have any knowledge of how Atkins affects folks already almost at goal ASIDE from those of us on the last OWL rungs or pre-maintenance? Is it the balance of fat, protein and carbs? Should folks starting out with only 10 pounds to lose be eating the high percentage of fat? I THINK if you only have 10 pounds to lose, you are advised by the Atkins experts to start on the higher carb rungs and expect to lose quite slowly...as you said, 10 pounds in 3 months. I'm thinking the fat percentage is too high for someone almost at goal. I know it is for me.

Maybe that should BE your expectation-more carbs, longer time, but if so, up the carbs in a balanced way and be patient...it WILL come off, but you won't feel at ALL deprived or disappointed! AND it should be "for life" as you have your lifetime eating plan pretty much figured out!

Hope someone wiser than me has some ideas.

And welcome, Sunny! [Snormand from New Mexico]

Why don't you start a thread with more of your concerns and we can try and give some assistance as well?
