26 lbs down, 17 to go....can I do it?

Hi,

I've been following atkins since Jan 09 and by May 09 I had lost 26lbs which is great. Since then I've been on and off but now its time to re-focus and I need to lose 17 more to get to my goal weight.

My plan to re-focus efforts is to up the exercise, I think I have the food sort of figured out now although I need to cut back on the nuts, they are too easy to over eat on and I should up the water intake too, I was pretty naughty and never took in the 64 ounces everyday for the 1st 26lbs lost.

Does this seem like a good plan of attack or is there something else I should be doing on this last push?

Thanks

You and I are almost on the same track.

I have sometimes gone 19 days without a full pound permanent loss, then "whoosh" drop a pound in 3 days, then go 7 days, etc.

I've been doing Atkins since mid-January and have lost 28-30 pounds (just got back from vacation so that is the extra 2 pounds above!)

The exercise has helped me, and I upped my carb level to 30 or so, which slowed me down, but it is still working, just more slowly.

I'm 65 so I have to work harder at it than I would have 20 years ago, but it still works.

Good luck to you! You've done great!!

Thanks Merlot, Sounds like we're about the same, how much more do you want/need to loose? 28-30 lbs is great so far, well done.

I've been strict the last 2-3 weeks, upped exercise and the scale hasn't budged...not very encouraging now i'm so much more focused for the final stretch. I know there can be a number of reasons why it hasn't budged its just frustrating to step on that scale and not see it move.

I'm about to start the 'slim in 6' exercise plan...maybe that will work for me? Will keep you guys posted.

Good luck Merlot

Charged,

I have gone 16 to 21 days playing around with the same dang pound and then lost a full pound the next day and another the day after, or maybe it took a week, but you can't get discouraged - take out the tape measure and keep track of inches lost as well. That got me through the dry spells.

I'd like to lose 10 more pounds, for a total of 40. That will put me at a BMI of 22.1. I don't anticipate getting there fast, but November sounds good! (Right in time to figure out how to Atkins my Thanksgiving dinner!)

The exercise DOES help me in the long haul. Keep plugging away ... just when things seem frustrating the "whoosh fairy" comes to the rescue!

Sounds good to me.
Exercise can only help.
I have no doubt that you can take off 17 pounds.
Best of luck!!!
