Two questions... stalling and alcohol

Hi everyone, I'm new here - I am on week 3 of Atkins, still eating pretty much the same as in induction, only I have added berries - breaks up the monotony of eggs for breakfast!! http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

Anyway, I have two questions - the first is that I have stalled for the last week! I lost 11 pounds in the first 2 weeks, which I'm really happy with.
I eat loads of veggies - yesterday I ate:

1/4 cup berries with a little cream for breakfast
chicken breast salad with ceasar dressing (v low carb dressing) and olives

2 pieces chicken (skin on) with a cup of mangetout and red&yellow peppers for dinner

Sugar free jello for dessert

This is a pretty typical daily intake for me. I drink diet soda with sucralose, not aspartame. I do drink a couple coffees a day (half-caf) with sucralose and cream. This did not seem to affect me during induction.

...

I know that I do not drink enough water, and I dont know how much that can have affected me. But I need to kick start myself again - I am getting married in 5 weeks, buying my dress 2 weeks from today!!!

Help please!

Question 2 relates to wedding day itself - I plan to stick to low-carb choices for my meals for the day, but there's no way I'm not drinking champagne on my wedding day - how is this going to affect me? Will it take me out of ketosis? Will I have to go back to strict induction afterwards??

Very distressed about this!

Thanks... http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

Good morning!! LOTS of questions/concerns so let's take 'em one at a time.

First, it's quite common to "stall" the 3rd week. So don't let that bother you... just keep going.

2nd, keep the veggie intake going. You should be eating no less than 12ng from veggies a day.

Water... besides counting carbs you should make this a priority. It IS that important to weight loss. If you don't drink enough your liver will have to help your kidneys do their important work... and that means your liver will not be able to metabolize fat, slowing your wt loss.

Wedding day... of all the days of your life this should, I THINK, be the last day you concern yourself with what you're eating. You have the rest of your life to do that. Enjoy the day. Enjoy the champange, the cake, the whole thing. You only do this once... and one day won't determine your success/failure at losing long term. I'm not saying "eat like a pig for tomorrow you will diet"... but honestly, there's no place for food guilt on your wedding day. If it takes you out of ketosis, so what? You know what to do to get back into ketosis afterward. You'll have enough to be anxious about on that day... don't add diet to it... good luck, have fun and best wishes!

Now... tell me about this dress... http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

Thank you both - I still haven't shifted any more weight at all! - it has been another week. (Although i am finding the whole water thing really, really difficult.) I am perfectly willing to give this more time though, as I know that any diet has stalls. I generally feel so good that I dont think I'll ever go back to eating the way I used to...

I used to stuff myself with carbs throughout the day - bread being my main weakness.

I have been out to eat a couple of times, and have managed to stick to low-carb choices. It has made me very happy. I actually feel like the days of going out to eat and coming home uncomfortably full from stuffing myself with carbs are over! http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

Thanks for your replies!

hey hachi...

i'd have a look at what you're eating - are you getting at least 1400 cals a day? try inputting on to facebook, or even just adding a few tbsp of mayo to your veggies to add some fat in.

honestly, you may not be losing much because you aren't eating enough http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif - like - the berries a bit of cream is SO not enough for breakfast!!!!

trust me.
