Hit my low again of 146.5 so I'm happy about that. But now I have an out of town trip for each of the next 3 weeks. Don't know if I can stay the course. It is so hard when living out of hotels and attending business lunches.

LeAnn 4/22 147.5

Wish I could give a better update. Unfortunately I had a weak moment when traveling and I'd been up for about 21 hours straight and upon arriving at my hotel they gave me an incredible chocolate chip cookie. It was really really good.

That was the only real cheat I had, but I guess it was enough. No real progress this week, but I guess I'm glad to maintain. Heading out of town again tomorrow, no cookies this time. I promise.

Good luck everyone.

137 today.

I'm not doing Atkins... I'm doing some sort of adapted low carb own diet, sprinkled with occasional (or not) binges... it's mental... I still wake up everyday fully motivated to make it work. I know i love the atkins diet and that someday I'll manage to fully experience it... I'm in my tuning fase of Atkins... which consists of making it work for life.... and I'm not yet able to, but it's never easy... I'm on the right path...

hugs!

Hey, 137 is still less than when you started!!! And you know what? Finding what works for YOU and your LIFE takes time... and it takes learning what doesn't work, ya know? So everything you learn is good. Just keep learning. You'll find your way.

Yes, that is my way of thinking right now. No more whining, no more complaining, no more beating myself up. I just think that 30 years of a messy relationship with food doesn't change over night. And this is not an excuse to justify my mistakes. It's just a fact that I need to think about to improve myself. Reflecting about something that isn't working for you is a very important step of the learning process. And a happy life is all about learning...

And yes, I wil find my way

Hugs

Well, I am back on induction. Day 3. I am tired of gaining and losing the same 2-4 pounds each week. So far, so good. I've managed to lose the 3 pounds I gained since last week. Hoping to make some actual progress in the next couple of weeks. Stats:

Starting weight: 147.5
Goal Weight: 144.5

4/8 Weight: 147.5

Are headaches common on induction? I've been scanning the induction board and only found one post talking about headaches. The last couple days have not been fun exactly.

I've taken Tylenol, Aleve and Zyrtec (in case it is allergy related). I feel a little better today.

I don't know how I can stay on induction on Easter. Have several guests coming for dinner. Not to mention the candy. I've managed to avoid that so far, although I've been stuffing plastic eggs with chocolates the last few days and haven't caved yet.

Good luck everyone!

Yes, headaches are quite common the first couple of days. You gotta hang in there LeAnn.... this is far more important than Easter candy or guests!!! If you get the days between now and Easter done well, saying no to the carbs will be MUCH easier than it is today. Use your body's chemistry to make it easier... get into ketosis. Then use your determination and drive and desire to lose weight to do the right thing... and not "blow it". You're going to have guests... you're going to have holidays... so use this one to learn how to do that AND stay on your plan. The two CAN coexist. I do it all the time in my house. You can, too.

I actually haven't been dealing with cravings at all. And I've had more energy, which surprises me.

It is the headaches, neck pain and overall feeling of heartburn (but not quite heartburn) that has made this unpleasant.

But that is much better today.

And I've been thirsty. But that's okay. It is always easier to drink the water that I know I should be drinking when I actually want to.

Serving Ham this weekend which is never my favorite. But that was the family vote. At least there will be lots of eggs.

Thanks Tril for your response on the headaches.

Happy Easter everyone!

You two are making my job easy! LOL Same starting wt and now, same update wt!!!

We don't "do" Easter... I sometimes get the kids some candy, but I wait until after Easter, when it goes on sale. No big family dinner to deal with, either!

No headache today so I'm happy about that.

My problem with Easter is that while I'm preparing much of it, my grown son is a budding chef and he will be bringing over several dishes. He's done this a couple times recently at family events and some of the things he prepares are amazing. When we had our big party over the Christmas holidays (32 people), he was coerced by inlaws into taking requests, because his creations were so popular.

I would hate to be a rude host and bad mom by not trying them. I can limit portions, but I see no way out of it entirely.

LeAnn... why don't you sit down and speak honestly with him? I would be mortified if someone ate something I made, just to "nice"... and what about YOU and your needs? If you were allergic to peanuts and he made something with pnuts in it, would you eat it? Of course not. You would tell him... I can't eat pnuts. So... before you're in a situation that makes you so uncomfortable that you'd risk your own health over it, call him up and just be honest with him. Tell him that you LOVE his cooking, but you've decided to make a change in how you eat... you want to lose weight and get healthy... and you need his support and understanding. Tell him it's not about his food... it's about you taking care of you. Wouldn't you understand if HE called you up and said, "Mom... there's something I'd like to talk to you about before Easter dinner....". See? It's not like you're doing something BAD by deciding that certain foods (sugar, for one) aren't going to be part of your celebration. It's just food. So... there IS a way out of it. You have to be honest with him. And... I need to say it one more time... making the choice to not eat something your son made is NOT BEING A BAD MOM. Bad moms don't have sons who grow up and come to Easter dinner with food he made. LOL

Put yourself first. It's okay.

I'm back down to my low from a couple weeks ago so this Induction is working. Down 4 pounds morning of day 4, so I'm happy.

Tril, I appreciate the kind words and you are both absolutely correct, of course. I know for a fact that if I talked to him he would go the extra mile and create Atkins friendly dishes. The issues are time and money. He is working two full time jobs right now and I just hate to burden him with this as the menu is already set and he won't have any day off between now and then.

But here's a story just to give you an idea what he's like. We had a gathering of friends and family and at the very last minute (within hours) found out someone was coming, from out of town, who had serious diet restrictions, Celiac disease (gluten free), lactose intolerance, nut allergies and multiple other allergies. There was nothing on the menu that she could eat.

Because of the short notice, I wasn't going to stress myself out about it, I asked him if he could think of something. He said "I'll see what I can come up with". He created a dish that was enough for her and probably 2-3 others that she said was REALLY good. And she was just an acquaintence of his.

Not only that, with his genetics and working in the food industry, he has had his own weight concerns, losing approximately 80 pounds since high school. So he would totally understand and go way out of his way.

One of his dishes will be a veggie dish that I know I can eat. The others, while not exactly Atkins friendly, I tend to have a natural aversion to anything bready, and he knows it, cakes, rolls, pastries (which explains why this WOE is pretty easy for me), so I will politely eat enough to taste it and everyone's happy.

Happy Easter everyone!
