HELLO, welcome and good luck, Catherine!!!

Don't worry about where you're starting. What's important, now, is that you've made the decision/choice to do something about it.

Have you read the book? The website? Do you have the food list for Induction? I ask because... well... you can't have nuts in Induction. Check out atkins.com and read about Induction there. You can download the food list in PDF and keep it handy (even print it out).

You can do this... just be sure you're doing it "correctly" for the best results!

Hi CakeyLady!
I welcome you to this board and bid you by best wishes.

Just a little advice- If you do have nuts, cashews are definitely not your best choice. The tin of plain cashews I have in my cupboard say they're 9 net carbs per ounce. Since you're only allowed 20 net carbs during induction (and like Tril mentioned, nuts aren't allowed..) You may want to wait.

If you continue to add nuts, I suggest almonds, walnuts of macadamia nuts. All of them are lower in carbs. I found nuts to be a terrible trigger food, so I cannot add them back into my diet until I figure out how to manage my portion control.

Read the book! It will be your bible through this WOE. It is difficult to begin Atkins without it. Drink your water. Exercise, if you can. and make ure to check in to this board often for encouragement!

Catherine... if you have the book still, check page 171. You'll find the OWL carb ladder there. Nuts and seeds are the 3rd rung so techinically, you'll get nuts back on the 3rd week of OWL... or about 5 weeks from now if you move into OWL right after Induction. Get those cashews out of the house!!! LOL

Here's a link to the acceptable foods list for Induction. You can dl it in PDF right there. The nice thing about this list is it now includes carb counts for individual vegetables. No more 2 cups of this and one cup of that... you have 12 to 15 net grams from veggies every day and what you choose is up to you.
