This question gets asked a LOT!
The answer is basically this... alcohol is not allowed on Induction. After two weeks you can move into Phase 2 (OWL). In OWL women are allowed one drink (one 6oz glass of wine or one ounce clear spirit [nothing sweetened like coconut rum] with a diet/sf mixer) per day. Men are allowed two drinks. You should know that alcohol suspends weight loss. Your body will metabolize the alcohol first... and then go back to fat burning. So while you're drinking you're putting weight loss on "pause". If it's worth it to you to include alcohol in your diet, then you'll just have to accept that it will effect your weight loss. I have an occasional glass of white wine. Does it slow my weight loss? Probably. But it's something I'm willing to accept and deal with. Tril |

ok, so here is what happened to me, I'm still a beginner at all this, but I do enjoy my glass of wine also and Sunday is a big deal around here w/ football and all so I decided today, that I would continue on eating well and worked out a little extra and allowed myself to have 2 glasses of wine without guilt...I just weighed myself and have seen no change so hopefully it will be ok. I believe that you only "cheat" will be a glass or two of you favorite alcoholic drink you will be ok, as long as you keep up with everything else and if possible workout a little more to make up for it! after all you only live once!

Of course, that's always your choice to modify the diet.
BUT, the question was asked about alcohol and "suggestions for how to keep on my diet plan". It's simple. Alcohol is not allowed on Induction. If anyone is willing to jeopardize their weight loss success by deviating from the plan, that's always that person's choice. We (the collective we here, the people who trust and believe in this way of eating, the people who do follow the diet as written) just ask that IF it doesn't work, that you don't blame the diet. I'm not saying YOU will, but we've seen it over and over here... people modify Induction to suit their desires (not a need, no one needs to drink) and that's no longer Atkins. Then we get "this diet doesn't work for me" messages. I wish you well, I wish you success, honestly. Please don't take this personally (need2lose or Dani88). I'm not ranting at you or singleling you out... this just happens to be one of my pet peeves. After all... it IS just two weeks. Tril |
