Need to cook a dinner for 15 adults
Hi,
I want to cook a LC dinner for 15 adults. It's my son's birthday on Saturday and used to always do a beef stroganoff. Any idea's as I will be doing a shop tomorrow for it. Rgds Caroline |
You could make a spoon roast or pork tenderloins with 2 or 3 vegetables- asparagus, green beans and almonds, and a giant salad with feta, tomatoes, and toasted pine nuts. Or- mashed cauliflower (similar to mashed potatoes)
Roasts are easy- sear the outside in a frying pan or skillet so it is brown all around and then cook at 350 for about 12 to 15 minutes a pound. you can season the outside with garlic, salt, pepper... Plus, you could make a LC gravy.... |
15 adults? Hmmm... makes me think turkey. Or do a combination of protein, like surf & turf (steaks and salmon). Then, like Neylonas said, add low carb veggies for side dishes... cole slaw, tossed salad, cooked veggies. You could also do deviled eggs, dill pickles and olives. Are all of the people doing low carb or will you be "supplementing" their meal with bread, etc?

Hi Tril,
No, I'm the only one doing LC and seeing as I'm doing all the cooking they are going to eat what I make http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif I was thinking of something that I just just serve in a big bowl with salads, brown rice, bread rolls etc that they could help themselves. I know it sounds silly, I can never do a good roast - so I wouldn't even try ! The childrens side is fine, they will have a seperate table, but I was more concerned about making sure the parents were OK - Once their fed and watered, the rest is childs play - literally ! We have pinata's and pass the parcel and musical chairs and I am really excited. I don't know who the bigger child is me or my son. Rgds Caroline |
What about making the stroganoff, but keep a serving of the meat out for you? You could eat yours on spaghetti squash instead of noodles... and you could use alfredo sauce or bernaise sauce. Just a thought.

Hi All,
Well I made the beef stroganoff with wholemeal rice and a chicken and pesto pasta with Cream & white wine and everything was demolished. I ate before people arrived, drank diet coke looked busy and ate jelly and whipped creamed for dessert and 1 glass of red wine and had great fun. Thanks for all the suggestions. Rgds Caroline |
