Joe... take a look at this, please. http://www.atkins.com/Program/FourPh...kMealPlan.aspx

I don't follow it, but it's a great visual to see what you should be eating. Select food choices instead of the shakes and bars and you'll have a pretty good Induction menu. I like how it counts the carbs for you.

I just wieghed myself this morning and I've only lost half a pound this entire week. I'm so upset! The only thing I added to my diet this week was spinach and romaine lettuce (a small fist full for lunch and dinner). (I did have 2tbsp almond butter one day). It is now hard for me to do cardio because I've been on this induction phase for 2 weeks. But I am still able to lift wieghts. I want to loose 11 more lbs of body fat. The ketostix aren't turning purple either. Any ideas on how to get-off this stall.

Any stall I ever had back in 2004 when I lost 98 lbs in 10 months using Atkins was ended by upping my fat intake. I drank black coffee. I started adding creamer to my coffee to end stalls.

Thanks for the advice. I'll monitor my body fat % and take measurements rather then just looking at my weight. But I am impatient. So I started taking hydroxycut today to speed up the fat loss. What laxatives do you recommend, I'm looking for a safe one and one that is Atkins friendly. As of this morning I weigh 124.6lbs 14% body fat. My arms, shoulders and chess are tonning up. But I seem to have a lot of fat on my mid-section and thighs. I'm hoping by loosing 11lbs of fat I will be able to see my abs and my thighs will tone up. I'll suck it up and do the cardio - it just drains me after working a full day. I'm alright with weight lifting since its short burst of intensity but the cardio is drawn out and sucks the life out of me. I was able to do cardio fine for the first week and a half but now its difficult. I drink at least 2.2 liters of water a day usually twice that amount.

Wow I finally had a bm last night, actually twice, after 2 weeks. And without the use of laxatives. I took psyllium husk powder, flaxseed oil, ate a lot more vegetables, and drank this natural laxative tea. I have to say I did feel bloated and I actually did start to gain back some weight because I was eating more carbs (all from veggies) and eating more then my usual 900 calories a day (the flaxeed oil alone is high in calories). But I had 2 bm's last night and all that seemed to change. I weighed myself this morning at the usual time and my net lost is 1lb after 2 days of eating more veggies. But I'm not getting my hopes up to much because my bf % went down .01% But I feel much lighter, detoxified, and no longer bloated. I'm very happy now that I am eating sundried tomatoes, olives, broccoli, snow peas, green peppers, and vegetable juice. Today I'm going to eat an avacado. I just have to stick to under 20 grams of these delicous carbs for one more week and begin phase 2. It's very easy to go overboard when you introduce new food, esp those snow peas, they are fun to eat. I think I'm also going to do cardio first thing in the morning before I eat starting tomorrow. I'm hoping to loose at least 3lbs this weeks.

I broke down today. I ate 2 choco chip atkins advantage gronola bars right after my chicken salad lunch. (It says it can be used in all phases but lets face it that’s not true) -that just gave me an excuse to eat it.

Each bar was: 200 Calories, 8g Fat, 18g total Carbs, 6g dietery fiber, 1g sugar, 17g protein.

I'm so bad! 3 strikes for me:

1. I overate,
2. It contained fake gronola (some sort of soy and oat flour mixture), chocolate, and a bunch of chemicals which I don't know how will effect my weight gain.
3. My craving for chococlate, sugar, and carbs are back. I have to get myself under control. There is halloween candy all over the office at work and whats worse is there are bakeries all over the place outside my office which is located in downtown SF.

Joe... binging is often the result of being too restrictive. I hope you read the food list and how to actually "do" Atkins. Give it a try as it's written, see if you don't feel more in control and more satisfied.

Thanks Tril. You are a beautiful person. You really take the time to help others out. I see your posts everywhere here.

Thank you all for your help.

As for me. I should be exiled from this forum, never to return after what I ate today and yesterday.
My main goal now is to try to eat in moderation (I've been binging on sweets) until this coming monday where I will choose what diet to be on if I can get my emotions and eating under control.

I totally feel like crap now. I feel ugly, unable to control my F@&k'ed up eating/emotions/feelings. I've worked so hard for so long and been so good and ruined 5 + weeks of dieting, not eating out, hours of working out. All because of some stress at work and some negative feelings which are 10X worse now that my body has all this sugar in it.

Anyways, Im sure you've all heard enough of me like everybody else in my so called life.

good luck to everyone. I hope one day to find balance in my life, to stop being at odds with myself and everyone around me. To truly feel good about myself.

Hey... stop it. You're feeling rotten right now, but honestly... this is about what you've been eating (and NOT eating) and has nothing to do with YOU the PERSON. You sound like a person of extremes. Extremely in control, or extremely out of control. Extremely happy, extremely unhappy. How about you stick around... learn about Atkins... see if it's something you think you could do "right"? Give it a real chance to work. And while you're at it, give yourself a break. What would you tell your very best friend if he/she was feeling the way you are right now? Would you call him/her names? Agree with that he/she was a "loser"... make the person feel worse? Of course not, so do NOT do that to yourself. Be your own best friend in your own time of need.

You can do this. You can get through this and find success. I know you can. But you gotta stay HERE for us to help you.

I'm gone until tomorrow night (just checking in on you b'fore I left) so don't worry if you don't hear from me. I'll be back. YOU hang in there. Get some perspective, do some reading and cut yourself some slack.

Thats what I needed to hear. I'm blowing this way out of proportion. You are right I do go through extremes in certain aspects.

I believe eating healthy is important to living a happy life and feeling good in your mind and body. I am human and deviated from eating healthy food and it does not make me less of a person.

I need to tone my feelings down.
I need to find out how to deal with stress in a positive way.
Find out more info about Atkins and compare it with other diet plans.

Tril thanks for your sensiblity.

Joe-

We would never exile you from our forum!
We all make mistakes, slip-ups, fall-off-the-wagons..
but no one is here to judge each other for it!
It's important that when an issue like that does occur, we have someone to turn to for emotional support and reassurance that this is not the end of the world, or that you're a complete failure.

That's what we're here for

Joe... how are things looking today? I thought about you while I was gone, hoping you were able to relax a bit and it seems you have.

Check in so this MOM can stop worrying.

Are you taking any vitamin or herbal supplements? A good St. John's Wort may help stabilize your mood(I have similar problems, and the combination of Atkins and the St John's seems to help me a lot).

Joe,
Eating healthy is not eating 900 calories a day. That is unhealthy and is not something that you can do longterm. You have to eat a realistic number of calories a day with fat and veggies which you were not doing and as a result you "binged". But the good news is you binged on things that are not so bad.

Don't be so structured and restrictive. Eat more fat. Fat tastes good and it is good for you. No BM for that many days is troubling.

Try not to be so hard on yourself. I know, I am too. I punished myself for eating two rasberries. I am brutal to myself.

The thing is you have to eat things that taste good and satisfy you even if it feels like an indulgence. I suspect that you think that the only way to lose weight is it deprive yourself. That is not the Atkins way.

Anyway, I hope that you will REALLY read the book and try to understand why the Atkins WOE really works. But only if you really do it the proper way.

Good luck to you, cut out the hydroxycut (bad stuff) and use correctol or ducolax. Just make sure you do it on a Friday night when you can stay close to the WC .

Cheers,
Kage

Unless you're getting your body % done at a facility with high tech equipment, your body fat is probably wrong. If you're using one of those bathroom scales and DIY, I can practically guarantee it's wrong (read the paperwork that came with those scales... even the manufacturer says it's not reliable). Those scales rely on hydration to determine fat %. Try it several times a day and you'll see that it changes every time you check it. We retain water over the course of the day... that's normal. It doesn't mean your body fat has gone up or down in that time, although the number WILL change.

Speaking of normal...

Yes, I know the scale is not accurate. But its safe to say I'm around 18%-21% body fat. I very much like the I way I look in my avatar pic (119lbs 10%BF). I admit I did unhealthy methods to get to that wieght but it is a healthy wieght. Idealy I want get to 6%BF in a healthy manner (by the book) which means it will take some time. And maintain 10%BF. My second goal is to put on some lean muscle just to be toned. These goals are far from where I am at now. I feel so disgusted with how I look now. I've promised myselft that i will not cut my hair until I am at 10%. that will give me incentive to get back on track.
