is this possible and why?

I weighed myself today and now at the end of the night I am 5 pounds heavier! how is this possible?

I drank all 8 bottles of water... I once heard divide your weight in 1/2 and drink that much

so how can this be? and it is soo discouraginghttp://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif

Because when you weigh yourself in the morning, your body has no food or water in it, since you've been fasting while you're sleeping.

Especially when you drink a lot of water through the day that you're not used to drinking, your body will store it. You're carrying water and food weight.

Try again in the morning, and you'll see that it won't be that weight http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

PS - as far as drinking water goes - you should drink as much as you can, but there's no proven "amount" you should drink. Even the 8 glasses a day theory has been disproven http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

I totally agree with QueenJesh. Always weigh in the morning, after you "go" and before your shower. Preferably on the same scale as these can vary a bit.

If that just can't work because you don't have scales or for whatever reason, at least be consistent on the time and place. Like if you are weighing in at the gym. They sometimes have better scales than our home models.

Good luck!

Always the same time (best in the morning after essential bathroom duties but before eating or drinking - and be naked)

Always the same scale

And best if always the same day - and only 1x per week. (Every Sunday morning is my routine - and that is the only weight I track.)

Finally - also take measurements - your body can change composition and shape and not show a lot of loss (significant new muscle, loss of fat = same wieght but not the same you.)

Yeah, besides the water you lose when you urinate in the morning, you also lose water just by sweating and breathing during the night. And water is heavy!
