Low Carb Ice Cream bars ?

I see that our supermarket is now selling a few Low Carb ice cream bars. The Blue Bunny varieties say only 1g Net Carb, however when you read the breakdown it states 8 g carbs per serving. How is this possible and woul we be looking to use net carbs or regular carbs.

Thanks

you use net carbs, which is total carbs less the fiber count in grams and sugar alcohols/substitutes, I believe.

you should be able to eat those bars, in moderation. Keep in mind, they may stall your progress, so I would indulge in them closer to maintenance or very rarely whilst you are losing.

I eat these bars also. I think it's the rasberry covered in choclate. LOL....I just bought four boxes at Walmart. Plus 8 cases of white Grape Diets Rites that are very hard to find. I have noticed no stall with these icecream bars. The only thing that has stalled me I noticed are the Atkins bars. I eat one icecream just about every evening. No problems. Not many things will stall me though. I lost 100 pounds on Atkins 15 years ago eating quite a few fried chicken fingers.

Those companies deduct ALL of the sugar alcohol grams to get that very low "net grams" number. However, it's been shown that 2/3 of the sugar alcohols are actually absorbed and used like regular sugars... that's why diabetics are told to avoid SAs or count the carbs. The American Diabetic Association has this info on their website.

thanks for the info about sugar alcohols. I'm not diabetic but always stall if I have a sugar alcohol sweetened product. It's just safer to stay from them.
