I too would like to know an answer to this, but for men (preferably a local pickup). I couldn't find any with no iron so I just take regular multi vitamins http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...n_confused.gif

Yes I am also looking for no iron and I couldn't find anything either. Not 100% sure but I think your not supposed to be taking regular multi-vitamins that have iron or it can affect your weight loss. If someone who knows what there talking about can help him out.

One-A-Day Essentials do not have iron in them.

They are available just about anywhere. I know Walgreens for certain. They are non-genger and non-age specific so they are suitable for anyone.

It's just that women (pre menopause women) on a high carb, low protein diet NEED the iron... we don't, we get enough from all the meat we eat. The men's version doesn't have iron, does it??

What if your borderline anemic? Low Iron runs in my family and (last i checked, although it's been awhile) I was on the cusp of anemia. Granted, I am eating a lot more iron rich foods now, but I'm curious whether or not it is ok for me to take a multi w/iron becuase of my history?

I had been taking the one-a-day Weight Smart vitamins but got sick on those. After all these years, I really thought that it was folic acid that made me sick to my stomach. But after some discussions with some co-workers think that it was really too much iron.

Think I might get my Regular Dr to prescribe some iron-free prenatals for me if I can't find them on the shelf. Prenatals are the best vitamins for even men to take. My last female gyno told me her husband takes them everyday b/c they have everything in them.

About iron:
You're probably getting enough iron on Atkins if you're eating plenty of dark green vegetables and meat.

There's no Atkins rule forbidding you from taking an iron supplement, but the pills are often poorly absorbed by the body, and oan cause constipation. A lot of people in the early stages of Atkins struggle with constipation anyway, and iron pills make it worse. Better to get your iron from your diet. It's absorbed by the body better and doesn't cause constipation.
