STALLED?

Hey guys,

SO I am really excited about Atkins, this is my 8th day on Induction. I lost about 8 lbs, but have been stalled for 4 days now. I was 142 and went to 134....I know I am probably being ridiculous and should just wait it out...just wanted to know if this was typical and that I may see another loss soon....the lbs dropping is encouraging! I have been eating around 18 grams of carbs a day and drinking plenty of water.... what do you think? or when should I be concerned if my weight stays the same? Thanks!

You will have plenty of stalls. Take a look at this:

(I cant post links so look for look for my thread in this forum titled "Plateau'd for 2 months, time to change something?")

Thats my weight log. notice a couple of weeks stalling then "BAM! And the weight is gone... Thanks OxyCarb". (before anyone asks, that is a joke, OxyCarb is not a real product)

Now, once you get months of stalls, then you might start worrying.

After four weeks. Seriously... most plateaus or stalls are not considered that until you've stayed the same for 4 weeks or longer while staying strictly on plan. Chapter 15 in the book explains it. I'll give you a bit of it:

"The Definition of a Plateau

If a pause in weight loss is a genuine plateau, I require that it meet the following criteria:

* You have experienced no weight loss or loss of inches for at least four weeks.
* You have not started a new medication, such as hormone therapy, altered your exercise regimen or made any other significant lifestyle change.
* You have examined your physical state carefully and are able t conclude that you have no symptoms indicative of a diet-related disorder or thyroid problem.
* You can take a close look at your eating habits and honestly say that you've adhereed to the same healthy, controlled carbohydrate eating plan that has brought you success up to now."

Those are Atkins' words, not mine.

Besides, at 134 you can't have a lot more to lose... so the weight loss SHOULD be slowing down now to about 1/2 to 2# a week. At the end, you'll be HAPPY to lose 1/2# a week. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif Atkins says the last 10# should take a minimum of 3 months to lose. If you have less than 10# to go, it's going to be slow going from here on out. This is where you learn to maintain your weight, so don't knock it... if you skip this stage you won't have the skill/info necessary to keep it off. And THAT would be a shame.

So sit back, keep doing what you're doing and ALWAYS remember, weight loss is neither predictable NOR linear!!!

Tril
