Default Atkin's Shakes
So, before I spend a lot of $ on these I want to hear everyone's opinion of these shakes. I was thinking that once I start school again that they would be an easy breakfast treat...

I think they are tasty, and keep me full for hours. They don't upset my stomach the way the bars do. IMHO they would be a good option for a quick breakfast.

I like the chocolate and it fills that need for something sweet. I actually saved money this week by buying the Slimfast low carb shakes though. They actually have less sugar alcohols than the Atkins ones.

I use the Atkins shakes for breakfast when I'm rushing. They taste good and have pretty well-balanced nutrition.

I notice that I get hungry half-way through the morning, which doesn't happen if I take the time for an omelet.

I haven't tried the new Slim-Fast carb-control shakes. The nutrition label says they have 2 carbs and Atkins has one.

They do have 2 net carbs, but they only have 6 total. So for those people who deduct sugar alcohols, the Slimfast ones might actually be a better bet.

I definitely recommend the coffee/latte flavors. They are true to their name -in my opinion

Barbi, I hate to correct you, but the Atkins shakes are A: better for atkins because of their higher fat content and B: have no sugar alcohols at all.

Ergo if the slimfast ones have any sugar alcohols whatsoever they must have more than the atkins.

I buy the Vanilla and Strawberry, both are good, the other ones have extra carbs that need fiber subtraction. Even if you want to subtract fiber and be safe, i figure it cant hurt to buy the ones that don't have as far to go.

Vanilla and Strawberry have 2carb 2fiber each, and the chocolates have like 5 carbs and 4 fibers. That made my choices easy for me.

I have as soon as I get up, I roll out of bed, grab it out of the small fridge and start shaking it up.

I have a second one after my workout with regular protein powder mixed in. The only thing that sucks about the atkins shakes is the old ones had a mix of protein isolate and caseinate. Caseinate is the slower digesting protein, and now they don't have that, and they dropped the potassium from 600 to 280. Without hte slower digesting protein, they wear off a bit sooner.

EAS makes another low carb shake that's pretty good, but its lower fats and calories and as such tastes a bit more chalky.

When I first started I bought the EAS shakes... So that I could have a quick breakfast when needed... I could only down 1/2 of one and that was with a straw. ICK!

Ehh I can eat anything... but yea they weren't that great. I conditioned myself to go mmmmm yummy from the first time I did atkins. I didn't give myself any non induction foods for the first 6 or 7 months, so the first time I had anything but veggies and meats and cheeses it was insanely good.

I think it was one of those nasty blue bunny ice cream lite bars, but back then it was epic great.

I had tried the EAS shakes in the past but they seemed so watery and flavorless. I do like the EAS bars, the cookies and cream one is good and has 4 net carbs. I have one once in a great while, especially around TOM.
