This was a long weekend for me and I forgot to drink my water. 4 days off the water wagon and I'm up in weight.
My stats as of today, July 1, are as follows: Age 32 Height 6'4" Weight 315.4 lbs I don't want to be unfair though. I was down to 312.2 Friday past before I stupidly gave up drinking water for 4 days. Whatever weight you choose to take for my starting weight is fine by me. |

Age: 46
Height: 6'4" Weight: 436.5 lbs. (Yup, all you old timers - most of what I lost a long time ago has come back - the evils of travel.) I think I've got an advantage because I have so much to loose - but a disadvantage because I travel as part of my job. GOOD LUCK to everyone. Of course, I'm going to consider it summer until the first snow fly's! Or at least until Sept 1. |

Hi BP,
It's true that the more you have to lose, the faster you can lose it, but this contest will be judged as a percentage of body weight lost rather than the number of pounds lost, so that should even out the playing field a bit for those who have much less to lose. Everyone is welcome to post their weekly progress each Monday or Tuesday, but that's not required. So far, I've gained a quarter pound, but I've stepped up my strength training, so it could be muscle. |

Karen,
I'd love to join in...not for the prize as I'm new to the board, but just for the fun of the challenge and being part of the group, if that is okay? Although, I've just started Atkins, I won't have the huge weight drop in the first two weeks as I have been dieting for awhile now. Anyway, best of luck to everyone. Weight as of July 1st 239 lbs Height 5'4 276/238/125 |

Let's have a Biggest Loser of the Summer Contest!
Summer can be a difficult time to lose weight. If a competition would be fun and motivating for you, please join in. Even if you don't participate yourself, you can log in and cheer on your champions. I'll donate a $25 prize to the winner, in the form of an Amazon online gift card sent to the winner by email. That should allow anyone in the world to participate. Rules 1. Participants must be members of this Atkins Diet, Low Carb Forum by June 17. That's meant to limit the contest to those who are past their first two weeks on Atkins. 2. Participants must follow Atkins guidelines, eating at least 18 carbs per day of healthy, low-carb food. 3. Participants may not take diet pills or have weight loss surgery during the contest. 4. The posting of your weight is on your honor. You can post a weight with or without clothes. Just post an ending weight from the same time of day and with the same (or lack of) clothes as your starting weight. 5. I'll judge the contest and award the prize, so the decision (and math) of the judge is final. 6. The purpose of the contest is to have fun and motivate one another in our weight loss. I'll participate, but the prize will go to someone other than me. How to Participate 1. On or after July 1, 2008, post your current weight for that day, under the Biggest Loser of the Summer Contest topic thread. 2. On or before August 15, post your ending weight, also under this topic. In between, feel free to post how you are doing and what is working for you. Winning the Contest The person who loses the greatest percentage of her or his beginning body weight wins. Examples: Kim posts a beginning weight of 275 on July 8 and an ending weight of 258 on August 13. Kim's total loss for the contest is 17 lbs. That's a loss of 6.18% of Kim's beginning body weight. Bob posts a beginning weight of 300 on July 1 and an ending weight of 282 on August 15. Bob's total loss for the contest is 18 lbs. That's a loss of 6.00% of Bob's beginning body weight. Kim wins because she lost a bigger percentage of her body weight. Any questions? |
