stucked!!!! support needed

I am now in the 4th week of induction. In the first weeks I have lost about 8-10 lbs , I have lost lots in inches. But four days ago I have bought my own scale , and my weight is not going down at all.

I do not know what to do . This results are killing my determination. What is wrong with me. I am doing exercises 1-2 a day ( 30-40 min each time) .

When I see these results I doubt that I will ever be able to loose my weight.

Help please.

Some support.

Tanya... temporary stops along the way are NORMAL. I stayed at the same weight for 28 DAYS. Not kidding. Then I lost 5#... and I've been at that weight for 10 days now. It's just how my body is losing it this time. I'm not doing anything different... it's just my pattern for whatever reason. Track your weight, keep going, and see if you can find a pattern in YOUR weight loss. It makes the waiting much easier to take. And ALWAYS remember...

Weight loss is neither linear nor predictable.

You won't lose day after day, week after week. You can't look ahead and say by "this date" I will be at goal. All you can really do is take it ONE DAY AT A TIME. Add up enough days on plan and you'll lose. You have to trust it... you have to be willing to be patient and stick to it no matter what. Not losing for four days??? You're going to let THAT discourage you??? Come on.. you're stronger than that, Tanya. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Tril , thanks again.

I know that I am boring maybe , but sometimes I get tired from all that diets . yesterday I was on the wedding party. I was disciplined , and luckely our wedding parties are meat kind , so I easly could find what I can eat .They serve almost only meat. But after I got as a present box full of cakes. i still have it in my fridge, because my husband and broteher loves it . It is very difficult situation for me every time I open the fridge. Grrrrr

And looking scale not moving I must ask myself: is this effort worth?

"And looking scale not moving I must ask myself: is this effort worth?"

In a nutshell, YES. A thousand times yes! Like I said, it's only been four days. That's hardly a something to worry about. If you need to lose EVERY day, day after day, to stay committed and on the right track, you better start working on that. NOW. It's not how weight loss works. You do NOT get rewarded every day... or for EVERY single time you say no to something. It does not work that way. Sometimes you have to add up a week or more of good choices to see a loss on the scale. Oh well. That's life. That's how it goes. Stop expecting to see a loss all the time and you'll stop letting it discourage you.

There are many, many things in life we have absolutely NO control over... weight loss is one of those. Yes, we can control what we eat and how much we exerise... but that does not guarantee that you'll lose pounds, does it? We DO have control over some things, though. We have control over what we put in our mouths. We have control over how we react to things. YOU control what you put in your mouth. YOU control how you react to the number on your scale. YOU. It doesn't just happen in a vacuum.

If the # on the scale is that discouraging... and disrupts your ability to stay focused and eat right... then stop using the scale. I can see why you didn't own one. LOL

I hate to give the opposite advice but if consistent and forward progress is what you need to succeed, then hit the exercise. It IS possible to have consistent weight loss, but you have to supplement diet with real exercise.

Just my 2 cents.

ResuNezily 03-08-2008 07:41 PM

That's true, Kyp... but even if a person does that, he/she could go four days not showing a loss on the scale. That's why I was addressing her "need" for lower numbers every day... and did not talk about what she might do to speed it up. Since I saw her almost ready to QUIT, FGS, after only four days... that seemed the more pressing issue to me.

But Kyp is correct... if you want consistant weight loss you could always spend 3 hours at the gym busting your butt every single day like Kyp does. Oh... and don't forget the 12 mile runs. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

I can not go to the gym , so I have to do my exercise at home. I am riding home bike for 20-30 min , then leg magic device, and more 15 minutes of some other exercises,. And I am doing all that twice a day , in the morning and in the evening. My problem is that I am too heavy , and I have problems with my knees , I have very weak knees , I had operations and injuries. I cannot run , I only can walk.

Because of temperatures here ( 35-39 C) it is very hard to preform any activity outside.

You are both all right , I was just fine loosing my weight and suddenly it stoped. I belive if I continue with my scheme I will see some results in next 10 days. If that fails I will change something . Maybe less calor. or something else. But I am not giving up from Atkins. I will stay for sure.

I have dead line 1nov that I must loose significant amount of lbs. If I do not my mother @promised@ me that she will take me in some institution for obese people. I really donot want to go there, because I know that I will go out of my mind there. So I must proove her that I am able to loose weight by myself

And that pregnancy matter.

Tanji, I know how you feel! We are in a similar situation right now and it's hard.

I just have to keep telling myself it took a long time (years!) to get this heavy... it will take longer to get thin again.

Trust in the system. Let's both try to do that!

I'm counting on you too now!

Stick with it, and the whoosh will come soon I know it. Sounds like you are doing all the right things!

qilmuz6v 03-09-2008 01:24 AM

Well apparently I have made everyone angry at me.

Tanji, I think that you have made the right decisions, and you shouldn't be discouraged by the fact that you weighed yourself and are even heavier than you thought. In fact, I think that's a good thing in a way. It's a wake up call in a way, a notice to yourself that you made the right decision in deciding that NOW is the time to start losing weight.

I'm a firm believer that there are points in people's life when they see the light, or come to a realization and if they make a firm decision, can make permanent positive changes in their life. I think that you are at one now, Tanji. If you stick with it you WILL lose the weight, its absolutely a sure thing.

If you cant exercise, try to take a significant look at the other aspects that you can control. Check your food by calorie as well as carbs, and get a really good indicator of where you are at. Take an inventory of what you do during the day, and set yourself not only some goals, but identify your motivation.

For some people its positive energy, but whatever it is, I believe there must be a motivating factor, a powerful one to drive you. I've been where you are, had bad legs, weighed so much that going up stairs made me tired, and then I just made the decision. Once I identified my motivation AND was able to prioritize it above giving up or eating, I was able to stick to the plan and keep striving for success.

Certainly during that year there were periods where I thought about giving up, but the goal and the motivation kept me going. What you need to avoid is the later complex. Right now there is no later. I did that for years, I told myself either "later" or "too late". When I thought I was 220 and I got on teh scale and I was 250, I said, too late, and I ate myself up to 275. The next time when I found out I was 275 and I thought I had stayed at 250, I gave up even more. When I hit 315 or so I finally realized that there were only TWO THINGS that could happen. I could either keep getting bigger until I died, or I could start getting smaller.

Once you remove "too late" and "later" from your vocabulary, the only thing left is "now" and that's where I think you are, Tanji. Just take a good hard look at your menu, push yourself where you can, and give it a bit of time and you will be successful. The more you lose, the easier it will be for you to lose more as well. Once you get back to a healthier weight you can start making more lifestyle adjustments to assist you with even further weight loss.

I know some people think I over advocate the exercise but.... thats just who I am. It saved my life, and I'm a firm believer that most of what we consider physical limits are just mental limits.

In any case, you got this Tanji, just don't quit. Quitting never screwed anyone over but yourself, right now you need to grasp the motivation you found to start this and ride it till the end.

Ok, so the numbers aren't moving right now...But you say you can see the inches change, right? That means you are losing the weight. Everything I've read about weight loss says it isn't a steady decline on the scale. People have slow periods (I was stuck for almost two weeks not long ago) for weight loss and the other kind as well.

Look all kinds of things can affect the scale despite recent healthy choices from the barometer readings to a woman's cycle to where the darn scale is on the floor (I'm a master at finding the place on my floor where the scale will show the the lowest numbers) but the fact is living a healthy life for days in a row will show just like living in an unhealthy manner will show eventually.

Remember those numbers are just a symbol of what you are looking for in life: a healthy body. Every time you do something that's good for your body you are moving toward your goal. So, I promise, you are not stuck at all.

P. S. Please remind me of this the next time I am stuck!

"Well apparently I have made everyone angry at me. "

ME? No... not angry at all!!! My response was more sarcastic, joking, etc. Sorry if it sounded like a personal attack. I envy your exercise abilities/drive/ambition. Honest. I was pulling your leg... tweaking you a bit... making a funny at your expense... and I'm sorry. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif I'll be more careful in the future. I know exercise is what "did it" for you. And you know what... you keep talking that way because it IS seeping into my brain that a WORKout has to be WORK in order for it to WORK. 'K?

Thank you all for support. I REALLY MEAN THAT.

I guess that I had been stucked , because my TOM was on the way. 10 days earlier. SO I am fine now , It is almost a month that I am on Atkins , and I am determinated. My hormons were probably working.

I hope the scale will come down just after my period.

Thank you again .
