Default Have you ever had gallbladder problems?
For about the past week and a half or so I have been having problems with my stomach bothering me. I was talking to me mom about it and she said the symptoms I described to her are bascially the same symptoms she had before she went to the dr to find out she had to have her gallbladder taken out.

It started out where I was thinking I just had a stomach virus or thought maybe I ate something that didnt agree with me. Just about every time I eat something (no matter what it might be) I get these stomach cramps in th upper part of my stomach. It lasts anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple of hours. I have been a little gassy too (sorry for the yucky description) and have been belching alot too. This past Thursday my back started hurting out of nowhere, to the point that it started making me nauseated from it hurting so bad.

For any of you that have had trouble with your gallbladder, did you have any of these problems or does my mom just have me frightened. She keeps telling me I need to go see my dr just to make sure but I dont want to jump the gun if its just a stomach thing I have thats been lingering on for some time now.

my gf had stomach problems for years, serious aches and pains which even moved to her back. Went to the docs about it but they just kept giving her various tablets and pain killers and did some blood tests. Eventually the doc sent her for an ultrasound and picked up about 5 gall stones, so she probably had them since she was like 17(shes 22 now) She was told that its rare although not unheard of for someone her age to have it, normally happens later on in life from 40 onwards. Shes had her gall bladder taken out now, most(altho not all) her pains have stopped.

Obviously there could be a number of different problems you could have from IBS to something more serious

Well, to be honest, even though i cant describe the sensation...your mums right, go see a Dr.

It might be like youve said and a lingering virus...but if your in pain, and if its not getting any better, then the best thing 2 do is get it checked out.

Btw, your back shouldnt be causing you that much pain if it where a stomach ailment...but if your anything like me, i avoid the drs like the plague.xxxxx

I've had ongoing problems for the past 5 years'ish. Off and on, crippling pain in my upper abdomen that lands me in the ER every time. It felt / feels like a super ridiculous intense hunger pain, or like someone's gripping my guts with their fist. Anyways, I had my gb removed 3 months ago - there were stones in it as well as what they call 'sludge.' Basically there should be normal fluid but instead I had this sludge crap. So after the surgery, I was fine for 2 months almost to the day, when I had pain again. Was in the ER again last night for it. My gastroenterologist is stumped. I also recently had a test for delayed stomach emptying, but it came back normal. The gb had to come out regardless for the stones and sludge but it obviously wasn't the culprit for my pain. I'm wondering if it's some stupid stress thing now, as I'm noticing I seem to get the pain when something traumatic happens.

What I'm really pissed about are the scars. 4 total. They're horrible.

Actually with gb pain, it does radiate to the right side of the upper back. I never had that though.

The missus had problems with it when she was younger, I think she had keyhole surgery on it to remove some cysts.

Thanks everyone for your input and help. I just HOPE its not my gallbladder. Part of me is scared it might be since my mom had problems with hers (genetically speaking).
I guess Im gonna have to break down and go to the Dr. Cause I know I dont want to put up with this crud for much longer.

I've had this prob for almost a year now. Some days its unbearable and some it doesn't hurt. Acid reflux, gas, stomache cramps, back pain. Guess I'll get it checked out one day.

Pay attention to when it happens. Keep a journal. Typically if it's the gallbladder, you'll get attacks after eating fatty foods.

That's exactly what my pain is. I want to keep in touch with you on this. My doc is stumped on what my problem could be. I'm still in the midst of tests.

Yeah, you're the first person I've come across who describes it like I do - severe hunger pain. But like I mentioned, they removed my gb and that wasn't it.

Sometimes I can eat and it will go away shortly... sometimes it takes awhile, and sometimes it gets hella worse. I've been told that it sounds like my spleen.

Never heard that before. But they did check my appendix. Nothing ever came of it.

Lemme ask you - does it ever seem to come on during extreme stress?

Doc doubts that's it. But I know for sure the past 2 times I've had an 'attack,' it's been under some shitty conditions. I tend to wear myself out in stressful situations so I'm not sure if that's it or not. Ultrasounds come back normal. Blood tests normal, etc. So they treat me in the ER with iv pain meds and send me home with a script. I'll be seeing the doc again this week so I don't know what test is up next. I'll keep you posted lol.

Do you get nauseous too?
