Well I've been lurking here for the past month or so. My name is Niki I'm 26yrs old and live in the Seattle, WA area, and I have been on Atkins sucsessfully for the past 6 wks. My journey started when a friend of mine made the commitment to get back on Atkins. He was succesful in the past and was ready to try again. Another friend of mine who you know as Stephanie501!!! Jumped right on his enthusiasm and was planning on starting when he did.
I've had weight issues for a really long time. But never really was motivated enough to do anything about it. I've only ever been on one food plan when I was 14 and that didn't last long. My relationship with food was one that I really didn't want to give up. So even when I was feeling the excitement and motivation from my peers I was the least enthused and wasn't even sure I would/could do it. The day they started we all got together and had our first of many Atkin's dinners together. I decided on my way home that night to stop by the store, buy my food and never look back. I've never been happier. I feel better than I have in 10 years!!! I swam competitively for years in my youth but hadn't been in the pool for about that long due to a serious car accident I was in. I've been yearning to get back into it for the past couple of years. Atkin's gave me the motivation to do just that. I swim an hour before work Mon-Fri, which Steph could tell you is a miracle in itself that I haul my butt out of bed earlier than need be! In the past 6 wks. I've lost 24 lbs and over 14 total inches off of my body. NOTHING CAN STOP ME NOW!!! :P I feel like I already know a lot of the regular posters from my lurking. But am excited to become an active member of this forum. So you will be hearing from me. I just want to say that I get so much inspiration from everyone here. But I have to give a special shoutout to Steph. I can honestly tell you that her sucess has been integral to my success and I couldn't do this without her. We are taking control of our lives and I love being able to share that with someone I love. She's also had a particularly crappy day today so give her some love!!! So thank you for listening! Congrats and it is so wonderful to meet you! I loved what you said about swimming, tomorrow is the first time I'll be hitting the pool in YEARS. Swimming used to be one of my favorite things too but it's hard for a 5'3" lady spilling out of a size 22 suit to get enough nerve to get out in a public pool. However, thanks to the WOE and the great people here, the 22 falls off me so a cute-as-a-button size 16 is in the suitcase. I'm so glad you are having this great success too. Write often and keep us all up to date!
