Default Atkins Help?! - I've stopped losing weight
I was wondering whether anyone knows if limiting my food intake like this would stall the process of losing weight? Im never hungry so therefore am not putting my body into starvation (making it store fat)

Link the shakes, I bet they're the culprit.

Even though you are not feeling hungry, I suspect since you're not eating as much your body is actually storing the fat instead of burning it.

A couple things.

Soy sauce isn't really good, it's got sugars etc and on induction you should be trying to remove sugars just to get the cravings out.

Secondly if you want to lose weight, and lose weight on atkins, there are THREE priorities to consider.

Number One : Follow induction rules, and lower your carb intake.

Number Two: Increase your Metabolism ( Do this by eating a lot, but little amounts)

Number Three: Watch your caloric intake some. (This isn't critical, but it helps. )

The way you are eating right now is specifically designed to slow down your metabolism, not speed it up. Check out some of the menu's in the menu forum. I have a couple posts about mine as well, which I use to keep my metabolism speeded up significantly.

You asked for help with Atkins, yet you've stopped following that diet. Those shakes for two meals a day are not Atkins. You're doing your own low carb plan... and that's ok... lots of people lose weight doing that. Only, you've stopped losing. Why did you stop doing what worked...

"I followed the first week strictly, I made sure I had my 8 + glasses of water a day and restricted my carbs to a maximum of 10."

"I have currently come to a stall and I have come to the conclusion that this is down to the amount of food I eat. "

It's probably some of the problem that you're not eating enough. Hunger, or the lack of it, has nothing to do with whether or not you're in "starvation mode". And, actually, people who are starving have less hunger... their body adapts. You eat too little and your body will use your MUSCLES for fuel. You want that? I didn't think so.

Your currrent "stall" (not really a stall until you've stayed on the plan and not lost for 3 to 4 weeks) is most likely related to the change in the way you're eating... the shakes. Get some real food instead, give it another week and see what happens.

The 3rd weeks is notorious for being a 0 lost week.

So there are a few suggestions for you... wait a week, dump the shakes, eat more Atkins-like.

Hope it helps,
Tril

Hi,

Funny Tril I really believe I was meant to read this post, because I am due to weigh myself tonight. I do it every Wednesday at the same time in the same clothes and shoes, and I really feel this week being week 3 I am not going to loose.

I know I am due * next week, and the week before I desperately crave sugar, am exhausted, and do not want to exercise, which is what happened this week. But, I have stuck to the plan, I just need to ensure my mental state when I step of the scales does not send me to the cookie jar and to know it happens to everyone and if they can overcome it, so can I.

9.5lbs in two weeks is good, I keep telling myself that, it will work itself out. Just keep going.

Rgds

I think 9.5 lbs in two weeks is great! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and it will happen.

Caroline, whatever the scales says it's just a number. It doesn't define YOU or your SUCCESS. Cookies will change the number... oh yes, they will... but NOT in the direction you want. So just forget about the cookies. They are not Caroline Food. Caroline does not eat cookies. Ok? Good!

Weight loss takes time and patience. It won't happen overnight or even over a week or a month. It happens when people keep on keeping on... even when they're discouraged, tired, premenstrual, cranky, sad, upset, etc. Every choice you make takes you a little closer to your goal. You might not see it on the scale, but those tiny daily successes add up. Keep that in mind and work at making as many tiny steps in the right direction that you can. No matter how far you have to go, you can only reach your goal one step at a time.

Now, if you mess up and eat a cookie tonight you have to come here and CONFESS it to me. You do NOT want to have to do that, do you? I didn't think so... and if you think my pep talks are frank, wait til you read one of my "do you really want to lose wt or not" talks.

Caroline... you can do this. We all can do this. We just have to believe it, want it more than anything else and be willing to work for it. Determination is for more important than willpower will ever be.

I would just add that it is common to hit a week or two in a row along the way where there is no weight lost. Consider it a signal to reevaluate what you are eating (it is possible to eat too little - putting your body into starvation mode - thus telling your body to burn muscle and hold on to fat reserves.)

If you are doing Atkins, you should be at 20 net carbs per day mostly from vegi's.

You don't mention exercise - but making a modest increase to your activity/exercise routines can help start the scale in the right direction as well.
