Calories 0__0

As a newbie (and a yo-yo dieter) I have to ask...
Do any of you count calories?
I know, I know, the idea is that your body will start using fat instead of carbs but I have a hard time believing that all this butter and oil won't hinder my weight loss.
Thoughts?

the diet works and calorie counting is just plain indulgent. i still do it -- habit from my childhood. i think its best to monitor (like a hawk) your carbs, including the types of carbs you intake. then, you can keep an eye on the calories. In my experience, all things being equal with regard to carbs, eating 20 carbs with 1,500 or 20 carbs with 4,000...you will lose faster with the lower calorie count.

Yes, I count calories as well as carbs. I keep under 35 carbs and 1400 calories.

Berries are very tasty and low calorie, but higher in carbs than salad veggies, so I limit the amount I eat to one cup per day, spread throughout the day.

Macadamia nuts were my downfall this week. In two days, I ate 6 ounces. That's 1200 calories of macadamia nuts, but only 12 net carbs. I gained half a pound.

Calories do matter, but your body will burn more calories when you are on a low-carb diet because it takes more energy to burn fat and protein than it does to burn carbohydrates.

Wow. You are doing well.

I don't count calories or carbs. But I play tennis for an hour every other day, run two mile every evening, and do 40 pushups everyday. I'm not gaining weight. Feel greathttp://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif
