Of all the years I have been an OBE practitioner, I have only had one experience that I recall having some sort of communication with what I perceived to be a "guide" or my "higher self". In this experience, I asked for help exiting my body. I began feeling strong vibes/paralysis. Soon enough I heard the voice of someone guiding me through it. It said: "You're making this more difficult than it is. Look at those clouds in the distance". I was staring into blackness until I finally saw some clouds. Seconds later, I found myself in a new environment talking to two beings (I perceived one to be a male; the other female). At that point in my OBE practices, I had trouble exiting my body once I reached the vibrational state or had sleep paralysis. This experience made it extremely easy for me for future OBE attempts.
A few years have passed, and I've racked up approximately 40~50 OBE/astral/etc. experiences. For a while, I reached a point where I kept returning to the same environment every time I had an OBE and I didn't know how to do anything "productive" or experience anything new. In most of these experiences, I requested help from a "guide" or my "higher self" but nothing happens. I'm ready to start learning and evolving, but have no clue how to even begin communication with guides/my higher self. So my question is this: How do I begin establishing this communication during OBEs?! Any help is greatly appreciated. -M |

Try having some kind of goal in mind before requesting for help. If you want to do something and you are not quite sure you could by yourself ask for help then and see what happens. Say you want to go to an alien spacecraft that is orbiting earth, that sounds like fun right?! Kind of send out the intention to do that as you are falling asleep and see what kind of feeling you get back. If you get a feeling back that seems like an agreement then once you get out look for a helper, if no one is there send out intention again and see what happens. The intention request feels like it comes from the heart.
Let me know if make it there. |

Hello, adAstra.
When having this experience, try asking what your purpose is there. In response, you might get one of the following feedbacks: You either hear an answer, or you know part of the answer or the full answer, all of a sudden, or the environment changes in a way that might provide a clue - someone or something appearing, disappearing, changing. If the latter is the case, try to analyse it, interpret it. Cheers, Oliver |

In my book The Daemon: A Guide To Your Extraordinary Secret Self I discuss the neurological evidence for the existence of a being I call "The Daemon". I also suggest ways in which communication channels may be opened by which we can directly communicate with this entity. In my research for my forthcoming book on Astral Travel (publication date November 2011) I have come to the conclusion that the "guides" experienced in OOB states are possible manifestations of "The Daemon" .... aka "The Higher Self". My books explain exactly what this being is and how it can help you both during ecsomatic experiences and also in your day-to-day existence. I also explain the source of this beings knowledge. However, and this is of the utmost importance, I do this by applying known science. This hypothesis is grounded in what we already know about the structure of the brain, neurochemistry and quantum physics.
I am already working with a handful of psychiatrists, neurologists, psychologists, psycho-analysts, hypnotists, meditation trainers, Jungian analysts and physicists to find a way whereby channels of communication can be opened between the "everyday self" (what I term "The Eidolon") and the Daemon. We have already had a degree of success and have one or two interesting results. If you are in any way interested in the model I term the "Daemon-Eidolon Dyad" please check out the Daemon section of my Forum. This can be found at: http://www.anthonypeake.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=11 This may assist you in your quest. Anthony |

I am of the idea that help comes when you need it, and if help means figuring out how to get around in nonphysical environments, you will not 'experience' the help directly (as an objective entity) but in more subtle ways, such as tests and simulations. It has been my experience that there are a few obstacles that you have to get through, which are created by living in a physical world- traits that are necessary for survival in the physical, but can get in the way of your explorations in the nonphysical environments. Instead of giving you techniques and such, I will relate to you what my own experience has been with this subject. I do know we're all different, but this is just an illustration of how the process has been for me. When I was very young (too young to understand what was happening) I used to have all kinds of OBE experiences with helpers sometimes, and was instructed in how to do certain things. I however, didn't understand what this was, so by the time I was older my first conscious OBE (at around eight or nine) the experience was more mundane and surprising, and 'traditional'. I never connected this to what I used to do when 'very' young. By then they were categorized as dreams, although very recurrent and 'established'. I spontaneously projected all my life, but never figured out you could do it on purpose- all the literature I had been exposed to was anecdotal- "this happened and bla bla bla" and fun reading, but nothing instructive in it. When I was in my forties I was subjected to some really scary stuff- something I began to experience that I had no frame of reference for. The experiences made me look into AP after all those years- and I found sites like this with all kinds of information that made me realize what was happening and this got me to learning to induce projection, and dealing with what you're supposed to do when you're out. As a matter of months (with MAP, actually) I had learned to induce and was having experiences that I could share with others here and in other forums, and was thankfully directed to read more literature that helped me understand why this happens and what it seems to be for. I'm still not sure about the second answer, but it seems to be pointing in some general directions. So, ...for years I practiced navigation, I dealt with troublesome entities, I developed a little clairvoyance (not a lot) and had some precognitive clairvoyant experiences and communicated with some self-aspects (which would be components of my inner daemon) and learned to figure out where all this information comes from- or rather, I'm learning.... But didn't really have the experience of being guided until two years ago, when my grandmother got sick, and I needed to see her (due to other circumstances I couldn't just hop on a plane and go see her in her hospital bed) so I tried the next best thing- projecting to her. Well, I tried and I tried, and found that I kept getting lost "in transit", and sometimes finding myself in this "waiting room/office" I have talked about in other threads, frustrated and aggrieved- but no dice. So finally in my desperation, I asked for help getting to her. I immediately felt someone at my side, and there I was with her. After that, all I had to do was ask, and I would find myself being instantaneously teleported to her. I acquired some information about her condition that was later confirmed by my brother who lives in the same place and who was taking care of her, and she even visited me once before passing, to let me know she was going, but wasn't gone yet. Ever since I sometimes have flashbacks of times when I was projecting, thinking I was alone but in reality was 'escorted', so to speak, I only got awareness when it was 'right'. I don't mean to say that's how it is for everyone, but I think that having the experience of being guided is not always the best for everyone at all times- there may be some things you have to do first- but it is my opinion that you should have the attitude of knowing that you are guided, and whatever you experience is part of this guidance, which may take a form so different than your expectation that you may not recognize it as such. And, that's it. ![]() |

I agree with Korpo : this was really an interesting and touching experience to read about!
