I don't know. It's not like those offended by the White House "attacks" are in the President's corner anyway.

It's pretty much impossible to find unbiased news. Evening newscasts and papers are biased anymore.

I think what shapes a person's political beliefs has more to do with family and personal relationships anyway. I'm not sure the so-called mainstream media has a whole lot of pull.

Besides, watching Chris Matthews spit all over everything when he gets excited is great TV.

My degree is in journalism. I find what routinely happens today in the mainstream media and the blogosphere patently offensive.

But that's what happens when private industry owns news. I'm not advocating for government-owned news... I'm just sayin'.

And they're only telling their audience what they want to hear. It's, well, the way it is.

Agree on all counts. Like way too many things in our culture, it's all about the money. Show me the ratings and you can say whatever you want.

So where do you go for unbiased news?

They're all biased. CNN pisses me off regularly, so I tend to watch that network the most. I hated him at first, but I've become a big fan of Rick Sanchez of late (on each day at 3 p.m., EST). He seems to be an equal opportunity hater, like when he took on Whoopi Goldburg over the rapist filmaker (for which he later apologized for his coverage of that because it was unfair to Whoopi) and the way he's been taking on the Arizona sheriff who is currently at war with the Department of Homeland Security for his illegal immigration enforcement (which basically consists of "If it looks or sounds like a Mexican, arrest it").

I also like The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer because they routinely have panels that consists of liberals (Donna Brazile, Paul Begala, James Carville, etc.) and conservatives (Alex Castellanos, Bill Bennett) and middle-of-the-road analysts (David Gergen). The panels tend to result in very intelligent and thoughtful conversation from both sides; I appreciate that. And Jack Cafferty absolutely cracks me up.

But like everything else, nothing is perfect.

I do like The Situation Room. Wolf Blitzer's reports do try to be unbiased. I also watch Don Lemon (a different kind of wolf wolf) on the weekends on CNN.

I have to wonder if it's not a foregone conclusion that 24/7 news programming is going to show it's true colors no matter how "fair" they try and report. It's not like the newscasts of yesteryear when all the news of the day had to be reported in 30 minutes.

It's a big story on all three networks, all the cable news networks, the Times and the WSJ, Politico, the Huffington Post, The Daily Beast. It's being compared to Agnew's infamous "nattering nabobs of negativism" comment.

It's not a non-story, Craig.
Yeah. I understand that.

But I still think it's a non-story.

I'm surprised anyone is still watching any of these channels.
Say it again. I turned MSNBC back on recently just to follow health care.

If you don't get your news from mainstream news, where do you get it? Online blogs? If that's the case, you have to be SO careful where you go. There are good outlets out there. But bad information on the Internet far out-weighs accurate information. It's scary.
Embarrassing confession: nowhere.

I'll flip through Time or The Economist at the library, maybe check CNN's online headlines daily, but other than, I've all but checked out completely. This coming from someone who used to get up early on Sundays just to watch Meet the Press. (Maybe by becoming willfully ignorant I'm finally embracing my legacy as an American. )

None of it makes sense to me anymore. All I see is constant fighting and no solutions, and I don't have the patience to invest emotions behind any of these issues.

Maybe I'm just a kook, but I watch MSNBC like I watch an Andy Roddick tennis match. I yell, scream, throw things, cheer, applaud, cry, etc. I think it's fun!!

Like JJ, I used to watch Meet the Press religiously. I didn't get up early to watch it, but I did stay up late to catch the last broadcast on Sunday night. Since Tim Russert passed away I rarely watch it. I just don't care for David Gregory, I think he's smarmy.
