We will not dig deep, because the history of Jaquet Droz watches is too long and branchy, but we will briefly describe the essence. The brand was founded in 1738 by Pierre Jacqui-Droz, a pioneer of watchmaking and a recognized master in terms of automatons — complex puppet puppets working according to a given program. However, for modern Jaquet Droz watches, it was the figure eight on the dial formed by a pair of indicators offset from the center that became the symbol. The circle on the "12 o'clock" in colors describes the readings of the hour and minute hands, at the "6 o'clock" position the circle for the second hand, in which the date indication is inscribed. The standard case dimension of such models was 43 mm in diameter. Recent trends have pushed Jaquet Droz watchmakers to work on a more versatile, compact size of Grande Seconde Quantième watches.
Representatives of the brand deliberately emphasize: "Grande Seconde Quantième 41 mm is a separate watch piece, and not a reissue of the existing model in a reduced format. All or almost all of the key points have been revised."
The new model is 2 mm in diameter, that is, 41 mm, but to achieve harmony, removing excess from the sides was not enough. We had to work out the design separately so that the body became thinner, even by a tenth of a millimeter, but this is what allowed us to maintain harmonious shapes. In total, it was 43 x 12.21 mm, and it became 41 x 12.10 mm.
The collection features seven color solutions: four in a gold case with enamel dials of anthracite, ivory, burgundy or deep blue. The other three are steel, with matte black, as well as titanium—gray or silver sandblasting dials.
The watch has an automatic calibre 2660Q2 with a silicon balance spiral, which gives 68 hours of power reserve from two wind-up drums.
