The Ipad will not play anything with Adobe flash content as Apple says it's a resource hog (true). A few people have said that flash is being replaced by HTML though several websites still use it to stream their content (YouTube has flash as well). Other than that the screen image quality is great. If they ever install them with USB ports then I might consider buying one. For now my 14" Asus ultra book is almost as portable and has all the features of a full sized notebook sans a DVD drive.

If you are going surf the net, play games or use other applications then a tablet may work for you. Check out the video below it may help you decide.

I would wait for the iPad 3 if you are going to get one. The iPad 3 will be thinner and lighter, as well it support full HD touch screen.

It is supposed to use the new A6 processor, and it is also supposed to be "fingerprint proof", though I don't know how that will go. Anyone that has a iPad or iPad 2 can testify as to the how messy the screen gets with fingerprints, especially if any kids get to "play" with it.

The Adobe flash debate vs html5 is ongoing, with many stating html5 will render the debate moot, but there are a few options in regards to flash content as well, including vnc or remote viewing.

I don't know if the iPad 3 will have USB or not, but as Apple is moving to its iCloud services, I doubt it. There is supposed to be some new feature where it can charge wirelessly and transfer data via wireless as well.

At any rate, I would hold out for the iPad 3, but that's just my two cents worth.

Not sure what you are referring to? I believe the iPad 3 will still have wi-fi capability, but it is also rumored to have a wireless technology that will be able to recharge it, as well as transfer data. It is also rumored to have a larger hdmi port, so I don't believe the AC adapter will be necessary any longer, but I am still not certain if it will be a standard hdmi port?

I guess the latest rumor is that Apple is also using pentalobular screws in the iphones and ipads now, so reportedly people will no longer be able to get them apart without taking them to an authorized Apple Repair Center.

Again, most of this is conjecture and rumor at this point, so file it in the fwiw category.

Well did you ever get one?

I have the fever for one now. I have a Samsung Galaxy tablet but I have been wanting an Ipad.

I think I need to do some more research comparing Android and Apple.

When is it supposed to come out, in the Fall?

There is one between 2 and 3, I think. Some 4g model with retinal display.

I have a Playbook from BB which is similar and I think it is a total waste of money. This technology has not caught the traditional laptop yet.

I just want to surf the Net a little, go on this message board and check out facebook. I also want to read some books, so I was thinking of going cheaper since I don't need all the bells and whistles and get a Kindle Fire.

What bothers me is not having a keyboard. I type so fast, I don't even bother to type much when I'm on it because it takes forever to tap, tap, tap each letter out.

Although I think there is a keyboard you can get for it.

That's why I like the econmical Kindle Fire. You can't do office work on it, but to sit back on the couch or out in the screen house and do things like this. For an additional 20 bucks you can get a key board for it.

I have something like that right now. The Samsung Galaxy is about the size of a Kindle. It's fine, but for some reason, I have the fever to get an Ipad.

Not an Apple aficionado, but those Macbooks look nice.

I agree, but I have one more year of tightening the purse strings and then I can start treating myself to some higher priced toys.

They're alright, they're great for traveling/vacations, especially flying or chilling out next to the pool.

Also if you've got an iPhone or a Macbook it'll integrate what can be integrated between the devices, apps - music - videos, et cetera plus the cool shit it'll do with Apple TV and it'll double as a great eBook reader as well.
