Default Kennel Review
Hey everyone. First I would like to know what you guys think of this kennel and the puppies theyve produced. The name of the kennel is Dog Days Kennel.

Second, what are some other kennels that you guys are impressed with.

Just curious

They look like puppy peddlers to me. That link opens to eight (8) breedings !!! DAMN ... that could be as many as about 70-80 puppies ... DAMN

Not only that, their "Champions" page only shows one dog with one first place finish in one regional show.

Did I mention they look like puppy peddlers.

Not only that ... I don't particularly like the dogs as a whole. I'm SURE there are those who just LOVE them ... I don't. That "kennel's" vision and version is not my cup of tea. "Home of the classic style APBT" ... my a55

No health testing. No showing (except for the one male Steel, who isn't even a UKC CH) or doing anything but breeding their dogs. Breeding blues to blues (hello potential skin/coat issues).

If I'm going to pay $1250 for a puppy it had better be at the very least health tested!

they dont really look like AmBullies to me. Just ye ol' regular pitbull. (But in blue! lol)

Nothing really strikes me as 'great' about their dogs. Their only "champion" has mostly 3rd place ribbons. While at least they are competing this one fella, none of the others seemed to have any credit to their name.

Aww shit Joe.... You got me that dog I would may 1250 for....... Its a rare white tipped tail APBT!!!

Let me start by saying I know accidents happen BUT If I was ever interested in this kennel (not my style APBT) I would be curious about Lobos death considering he is there "foundation male of our very own NitroBlue™ Bloodline" And died before 7 years old.

Did you ever answer what type of dog you were looking for? If you did, I missed it. Are you wanting an Amstaff, UKC style APBT, ADBA style APBT, AmBully..?

My opinion ... you're going about it all wrong. But I have a couple of questions ...

- What do you intend to do with the dog you get?
- What breed dog are you looking for?
- Do you have a favorite bloodline?
- Do you have a preferred registry in mind?

Regardless, my advice is not to get one from a kennel at all ... not even consider it. AT LEAST one that advertises on the internet. If all you're looking for is a pet or you intend to show/work a dog, my advice is the same. I recommend that you deal only with people and bloodlines you know and respect. If you don't personally know any people who are breed stewards that show/work their dogs and/or don't have a particular bloodline in mind, then you should really do more research ... make it out to some registry sanctioned events and talk to some folks ... before ever considering or committing to another dog. A good dog is where you find it ... but your chances are better, not dealing with puppy peddlers.

Now, sooner or later you WILL run into "kennels" that are worth a look, through research and personal contact ... but the point is ... they don't advertise on the internet to the general public and MOST times ... a majority of, if not all of, the pups are spoken for even BEFORE a breeding is done.

Why not one that has a website? Every Amstaff breeder I know, many of whom have top 20 Amstaffs, have websites. Most of the UKC people I know also have websites for their kennels as well.

Okay ... that may be true. Kady will have to speak to that aspect. I've never been interested in AmStaff or the UKC. Based on my personal experience. I stand by my advice.

Your right! sorry I never re- posted on that thread but I think im leaning towards Ukc style apbt but im not sure if I can find those in my price range

and JoeBingo, Im not really seriously looking right now, Probably not until early next year but from what ive read it is good to start researching early.
and to answer your questions
1- I want a dog that I am able to show when im ready for that, But also a dog with great athletic history, I hike, run, swim, and take trips to the mountains regularly and I dont want a dog that is easy to "over-do"
2-Most likely UKC apbt
3-No bloodlines that are my favorite

I would like to buy from a breeder I know and trust thats why I am making threads like this to gain more knowledge of the different breeders, bloodlines etc.

If your price range is anywhere near what the pups from the site you originally posted is, you should be MORE than able to get a UKC style APBT.

Where do you live again? You can look here: United Kennel Club: Upcoming Events for upcoming UKC events in your area. Just select the month then find your state.

Best advice would be to go to shows and watch the APBT's there, see if there are any you like. I show Sako in UKC as well and the people at the shows are usually super friendly toward everyone.
With UKC dogs, you need to be careful, because many AmBully breeders still register their dogs through UKC.

Basically, if the dogs aren't health tested, and titled in something, look the other way.

AmStaff ... while they ARE athletic and wonderful dogs ... are first and foremost, showdogs. That is the breed purpose. At least I would imagine they are showdogs if you get one from a kennel website that competes heavily with AmStaff and you expect to do well showing.

A UKC APBT ... could be ANYTHING, so you need to know what you want, expect and what to look for. The AmBully UKC registered dogs haven't historically done well in UKC sanctioned events.

Edit: I see Kady already said basically the same thing about the UKC
