My dog is an IDIOT

Most of you know I got a new house recently. It has rooftop access so Sam can watch passerbys and she loves it! Its very common here in MX to see "roof dogs" like Sam who bark at people from the roof.

Well, Sam is no longer allowed on the roof! She JUMPED OFF today.. On purpose! About 20 feet onto CONCRETE GROUND. Amazingly, shes ok.. So far. Im gunna keep a close eye on her though cuz thats a big jump and a hard landing. But shes acting like nothing happened.

How could she be so dumb???

Its my fault.. I should have seen this coming. Owner fail http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/frown.png

Jesus! That would have given me a heart attack!

My dog could run head on into something and not even phase him

I hear you, SamThePitbull! When Umah was younger she took a dive off a ravine that was probably a good 20 feet high at least...but her landing was into soft sand, thank God.

My old girl Gypsy did the same thing, and she landed right on her chest, I thought for sure something would be broken, but she just popped back up and kept on running.

My husband saw it and told me "go get her!" And I said "no! You!" Because I was fully expecting to find her laying there bleeding to death and couldnt stomach the thought of seeing that... But somehow she had wings today! I really lucked out this time.

I would have been going straight to the vet regardless if the dog seemed fine or not. Especially with Snow's Hips.

Stop letting her watch Red Bull commercials, they're very misleading.

Thank god she is okay, I can't imagine Roxie doing that and surviving!!! That poor dog. Sometimes their intellegance amazes you, and other times you wonder if it's the same dog...

I always worried with her on the roof because I thought for sure that fall would be deadly.. Guess I was wrong!

And let me be clear about this.. Sam's intelligence has NEVER amazed me LOL.. Shes NOT your typical smart bulldog.. Shes pretty damn stupid lol.. But sweet!

Hope she continues to be good with it. A good nights sleep will tell. What a silly dog.

Well i felt all her bones and nothing seems to be broken so thats good.. I guess now my main concerm is to keep an eye out for signs of internal bleeding. Shes just chillin in bed.. Im sure shes pretty sore!

Holy! Glad she's ok .. Had a similar situation with Tye. He was chasing a squirrel across my deck and leaped on the storage bin and up on the rail and decided to play superman off the deck. About 15 feet, thought for sure all his puppy bones were broken but nope he got right up and was still looking for the squirrel lol. Crazy dogs Lol

I knew the breed was known for having high pain tolerance, but I guess they must also have bones of steel!

Dogs do some stupid shit and live to tell the tail. (mind the pun) I'm glad she's okay.

Maybe put her on a long lead when you're on the roof with her? Does Mexico have agility competitions? Or do you have a yard? I bet she'd be great at that. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Nick & Rosie were running thru a doorway. Nick missed the opening and ran into the wall. He bounced and kept going, but left a dent in the doorway.
The only time I've heard him yelp is when he & Rosie did a body slam doing zoomies.

Glad Sam is okay, I'm sure that was very scary.

Unoriginal- i definitely wanna look around to see what kind of athletic dog events they have here! Unfortunately when I return to the US in December, Sam will stay with my husband and hes good with walking her but I doubt he would take her to events like that.. But who knows maybe I can convince him http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

**update** She seems fine this morning. Nothing but a scratched chin! (she dove head first -_-). Shes really sleepy but I think thats cuz her tummy has been bothering her lately http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/frown.png

If you have no where else on the property she can enjoy outside time perhaps you could set up a chain link kennel or a chain spot that wouldn't allow her close to the edge.

These dogs never cease to amaze me. I have read stories of Pit Bulls being shot or stabbed multiple times defending their humans and living. One story an armed man broke into a home and the family Pit Bull took 3 bullets from the assailant and proceeded to try to kill the guy anyways. Imagine being the guy... shoot a dog and it just keeps coming. The look on his face must have been priceless!

My own brothers dog jumped out of the moonroof of the car while my brother was driving down the road at 50 mph just because he saw a cat and wanted to go eat it. Only damage was a broken nail. These are tough dogs.
