Yup, like a seal. initially she was terrified of the sea, the thump of the waves freaked her out. Socialising with other dogs on the beach she gradually went further into the water until finally she started to swim. I'm sure I have posted a vid on here somewhere & you can see how they swim from under the water.

My Aussie/GSD mix loves the water!

Diesel though, not too fond! About the only way he goes in is if he thinks he is missing something.

Scruffy will go in until she can't touch the bottom UNLESS there is an animal in the water in which case she will swim like crazy! \

We went swimming again today. It rained a lot the other night so the creek we go to was a little bit higher and it was moving pretty fast. My aussie just jumped right in and immediately was swept about 100 yards down to the next area where it was only a foot or so deep. She doesn't care. Cloud my pit bull was a little cautious at first, so I pushed him in and then he was all over the place. A little iffy around the spots where the water was moving fast, he did get caught up in the current, hit a tree, climbed up it and started to howl. I acted like I was going to leave him and then he jumped right in and swam back, he had the most terrified look on his face and bug eyes, but he does good. I always stay close to where I can walk/swim over and rescue him.

Leon LOVES water, his brain turns off and he is on a different planet.
He yodels, snorts, screams, and makes all kinds off deadly god awful noises, he ALWAYS turns heads.
He will swim for an hour without touching his feet to the ground, and once he was missing from the dogsitters for 4 hours because he took a 3km swim up the river.

Downfall is he has an issue with "excitement nipping" and can't swim with people or other animals :/ but we always are able to find a place where he can be himself and not cause harm

Pfft, hell no. I wish he did, it would be great for his knees. I have to kick him out to potty in a light rain since he thinks he's going to melt.

Nope my dog is 1/3 lab, 1/3 Terrier, and 1/3 CAT. She hates getting wet, despises it really. We've tried to encourage her to go swimming and she acts excited until the moment she gets wet. And then its all over. We even had a small kiddie pool for her for awhile. All she would do was drink out of it but other than that she would avoid it like the plague.

I really wish she would swim it would be great for her back and joints.

My sisters and I had a lab and a lab/hound mix that you couldn't keep out of the water. If they were loose they would head down to the small river on the property and dive right in and you'd have to litterally drag them out of the water and back home. Honestly this is the first dog I've had to not like water.

cheyenne loves to swim and play in the water. we try and take her out on the boat every chance we get. think she knows what boat and river mean now because she gets so excited. we started her really early with introducing things because we didnt want her to be afraid. every single time we go out she gets a lil braver and does a little more. i remember after a couple times she was jumping out of the boat once we got to where we were. it takes time.

Peanut isn't fond of baths, but she will swim and swim and swim. We take her to a friend's pool and we have to order her out of the pool after a while or she'd still be in there!!!
