Nope. He's not even allowed on the second floor where the bedrooms are.

No thank you, dog sleeps in dog bed, I sleep in my bed. Her bed is always right beside mine though. Zoey has boundaries and no furniture/bed is one of them. I could never tolerate a dog sleeping with me in my bed (knowing where we walk/work outside and bringing it into my bed where I sleep) plus the hair. We're with each other 24/7, but that doesn't mean we have to share everything and need our spaces where necessary. We do nap with one another sprawled out on the floor in our family room/upstairs loft area, most days though.

I have no patience for him jumping on me, nailing me in certain "parts" when I'm sleeping, the slobber. Nope. He stays downstairs.

I guess it's all in one's perspective !

I didn't mean it like THAT. He has a "dry mouth" but when he sleeps he drools. So no thanks!

I don't get a vote in the matter.

I decided before I got a dog that she would never sleep in the bed.

Then 2 nights after I adopted her I woke up to her under the covers, spooning me. And that's how most nights have been since then. She climbs under the blankets and presses up against me. I don't mind - in fact I kind of miss it when I'm traveling.

The only thing I mind is when he gets overheated and jumps out of bed, then decides she needs back in, all night long. If she does that too much she gets booted from the room. I also don't like when she nudges me to get me to lift the blanket for her.

She's such a sweet dog - how can I deny her this one pleasure?

Bonnie slept with me when she was real little but now she has incontinence problems. I miss having a dog in the bed but I don't like waking up to a pee spot on the mattress I have to clean. Abbey loves to get in my bed but she sleeps in her dog bed with my parents at night. My next dog will probably sleep with me at night.

Your dog is there to make you happy. If you like letting the dog sleep with you I see no reason why it shouldn't.

I have 4 dogs. The 2 youngest are crated at night because they still chew and get into things. The 2 oldest sometimes sleep with my husband and I and sometimes we want to have some alone time and close the door. When our door is closed the dogs will either sleep with the kids or on some random piece of furniture.

Awesome!!! And all your pictures are awesome too! I thought it sounded ridiculous. He displays no aggression or dominance at all and he sleeps all night in the bed. When he was in the crate I would wake up all night because of him moving around or whining. So that was one of the reasons I let him back in my bed because I can sleep better lol... And I love waking up to his cold nose right in my face with a big lick lol... Thanks again.. I feel much better!!

Our apbt has slept in the bed every night since he was a puppy. He starts at the foot of the bed and works his way up between my fiancé and me. Usually whoever wakes up last wakes up to him spooning with his head on our chest.

Slept in his crate as a pup, was allowed on the bed once fully house trained. Unless your dog already has dominance issues, he's not all of a sudden going to become dominant because you let him sleep on the bed. Its no different from him sleeping on his dog bed.

From this point on we have a no dogs on the beds rule.
We used to let our dog sleep with us when she was a pup, but it finally had to stop as she got older/bigger. She would strech out between us long ways and litterally push us to the edge of the bed. I finally said enough is enough, I was sick and tired or waking up with a back ache and I went out and got her her own bed and she now sleeps in her own bed on the floor in our room. She has been doing that for the last 3 and a half years no problem. However sleeping on the bed I don't think that is a habit I will start with any of my future dogs, I personally like having the bed as a dog free zone. So from now on with any of my dogs I have my bed they have their dog beds. Now as far as the couches and chairs and what not, I don't care. It's the dogs home too so why not. And she knows if we tell her to get down, she is to get down.

I really don't think allowing the dog on the furniture causing any kind of dominance issue. The issue is when you tell the dog to get down or try to move the dog and they growl/snap/refuse to do as told. That is when you have a an issue and that is a much deeper issue that doesn't stem from letting your dog on the furniture. But an issue that needs to be addressed by a trainer. I think another member mentioned "Resource guarding" and that is pretty much what that behavior would be.

Ours was between us a while back and sprung his legs out real quick to stretch. I had no idea what happened till I was looking up from the floor at his face looking at me like, "what are you doing down there?"

My dog sleepsin the bed also. Boomer sleeps in my husbands spot until the hubby comes to bed then he lumbers around to my side and cuddles up to me. From the beginning we made sure he moves when one of us comes to bed and he is in our spot. We have had no problems. I don't like grit in the bed she he gets his feet wiped after EVERY walk. I have packs of baby wipes stashed all over the house.
