Personally I do not like Fritos...so, blech.

However I don't think Veronica's feet smell like fritos; maybe because of her weekly baths in medicated shampoo...

I love the smell of her whole body right after she has had a bath however...she smells...fresh...as a summer's eve.

Really.

I like the way my dogs smell, including their feet. The scent of a dog is soothing and homey to me. I swear, you could blindfold me and I could tell you which dog was in front of me by scent alone.

Yeah, we're weird.

I don't think I want to smell my dog's feet since I know exactly where she walks everyday...maybe after a good washing.

What gave you the idea to smell them? But yes I just smelled my morons, and they smell like heartburn in a bag too! http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png

Tveabuti 07-14-2012 03:57 AM

Well that is kind of weird lol. I don't smell my dogs feet. I just think of what all they might have stepped on haha. I definitely notice how they all have a certain smell though http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png Especially when they give me kisses http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png I love to smell my dogs http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Gymnfacymoota 07-14-2012 04:18 AM

well I don't smell my bogs feet, but after starting raw my dogs don't smell to me at all and before Logan (not neutered) was starting to get that musk smell

ZanazaKar 07-14-2012 04:24 AM

ive heard that smell comes from the bacteria in their paw crevices.

but yeah. TINY bit weird that you smell them. lol

deethythitoth 07-14-2012 04:51 AM

the frito smell is yeast.
it is pretty common

i like to smell Peanut like random places as a game for example his forhead or his shoulder he seems to "think its funny" he plays along with my game. but he really doesn't smell like anything.
Peanut's feet usually smell like either grass or carpet lol.

Can you tell them apart by smell? I told my husband that I know each individual dogs scent and he thinks I'm crazy.

That makes sense to me; my Basset had a totally different smell than Veronica.

Different body chemistry, different smell. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/images/smilies/smile.png

I have never tried smelling my dog's feet. His feet wasn't touched as a puppy so he doesn't like it when I try to touch his feet.

But I love the way his head and neck smells. It smells like home and comfort. His head on some days smells like pвtй though.

hernkingAnank 07-15-2012 07:01 AM

I like the smell of my pups feet (the frito smell) i grew up with dogs all my life so its comforting to me i guess...

I'll be weird with you

Yeah, the hounds are in a scent category all their own! But each of the APBT's and AB also have their own scents. Maybe it's a chick thing. Allegedly, women have more sensitive noses for evolutionary purposes. Something about heightened sense of smell to better care for infants.

The corn chip smell is yeast. It's not a good thing lol.

Bonnie's feet smelled like it before we started doing a half raw diet. And if I can't afford raw and they're on mostly kibble for a week or more, they smell like it again. I notice because Bonnie gets to lay in the bed and she always puts her feet in my face.

well i know her feet aren't infected or moist or anything i don't think it bothers her at all if that's what you mean, if it's yeast it just lives on her and isn't bothering her, cause her pads and paws are definitely fine and free of any redness or infection, she doesn't lick her feet or bother at them at all, her coat is really watery and it protects against water pretty well so when she gets wet she dries off real fast.

Unless you're saying it could be because their is something wrong in her diet? she seems to be doing real well on what she's on she eats instinct kibble and instinct raw food

maclaudser 07-19-2012 06:15 AM

Well I mean it's not necessarily a horrible thing, I think most dogs will have a LITTLE excess yeast if they're on kibble. If it's not bothering your dog then it's probably not a big deal, a little excess yeast isn't gonna hurt them.

My GSD mix, Shadow, has realy long hair between his toes that we have to keep trimmed. But his feet smell HORRID. I used to like the smell. I used to own rats and the males have a very distinct frito-like smell which I really loved. And Shadow's feet also smell like fritos. But too a much greater extent. It's beyond what I can handle. He gets his feet scrubbed a lot.
