Default Panting at night, while it's cold?
I'm merely curious to what people have to say about this.

Does anyones dog pant at night, when it's cold?

It's cold here because it's Winter. Some nights I've woken up to Sunny panting heavily, wide awake, head up, laying there. I normally have water down but I've forgotten lately, he wouldn't always drink on some of the nights I woke up. I did let him outside just before, I'm guessing he had a drink, not sure, he strolled back in when he was ready.

He does sleep under the blanket, not sure if that matters.

Any idea why a dog may pant through the middle of the night, while it's cold out? It's cold in my room. I'm out in the shed.. So, it's not hot at all being Winter.

Wouldn't it be the same as you being short of breath after running?

Probably but I don't understand what that has to do with anything, lol. He's been asleep and randomly wakes up and pants. It takes him a bit to able to relax again.

I really don't know about his health. He seems alright but after he had that peeing problem and weird breathing in the past, I just don't know. The vet has given him the all clear but I think there is something deeper... Or I'm just paranoid! I'm thinking about going to a new vet.

He's fed RAW now, not sure if that could have anything to do with it but I think he did it while he was on kibble, I think. He's only been on RAW for about 2 months now.

Scout stress pants all the time, even in dead of winter.

Maybe he ran around when you let him out? Some dogs just pant more than others too.

I'm sure eating real food has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Dogs pant for many reasons, not jsut due to being hot, dogs will pant when they are excited, anxious, stressed out, nervous, or really happy.
they will also pant if they have a health problem.
