Default Mixed with Presa???
Im sure ya'll here stuff like this all of the time. Sorry, but I would just like to know.
I have been told by sooo many people that Camo does not look purebred. I dont have a clue, but I wouldnt doubt it...I found her in a box on the side of the road....why would anyone dump a purebred dog??

Anyway, so many ppl have asked if she was mixed with Presa, and I dont know what to tell them.I have never actually seen one in person, only pictures, but I thought Presa's were HUGE??? She is probably mixed with something...her coat is longer than most of the dogs I have seen on here. She is about 8 months old now, and 35lbs. She was a stunted rack of bones when I found her weighing in at a whopping 6lbs (i was shocked to learn she was so old, I thought she was only 7-8weeks!!)
What do ya'll think. What does she look like she is mixed with?
Here are some pictures of her that Im sure most of you have seen before. Sorry, she is laying down in most of them...thats all she ever does lol.

She does have the Presa coat, but that is all, her proportions and head are not correct for Presa. I would imagine she is mixed with something else long coated, but not Presa.

She does look like she might be mixed with something, but I don't think Presa.

She looks very similar to my sisters dog and he is a pitbull X whippit X with Old English Sheep dog. Now how's that for a combination.

She's darn cute! I wouldn't go with presa though.. she'd be a lot bigger/thicker for that combo.

Maybe some sort of small terrier?

I'd say people are only guessing Presa because of her color since nothing about that dog looks like a mastiff. This is a really hard stage to tell since all dogs look lanky and horrible at that age. Give her a year to fill out and see what happens.

Hmm, I'm not sure about being mixed with Presa, they usually have huge blocky heads and massive chests, also size wise she'd be a little on the small side (our mastiff at ten months is close to ninety pounds). Regardless she's an adorable dog!!

It is NOT an awesome mix. As part of Presa rescue I can tell you all that this is frequently done on purpose with inferior quality parents and leads to many problems.

The Presa is NOT a breed for everyone, only about .00001% of the population should even consider having one.

And why is that..

Temperament: The Presa Canario breed is known for its calm temperament, which is often referred to as the "island temperament." It is considered "gentle and noble" with the family, and distrusting of strangers. The Presa Canario forms a strong bond with its master and human family and can be very protective. The breed is intelligent and is known to possess a "severe gaze." It is also known to do well with children. ^ i dont see a problem from the temperament listed above. But i never met one.. Just read about the Presa breed. How are they like..

@Jelet, Presas can be really dangerous if they are not bred and trained right, and they have an extremely dominant nature. The dogs that mauled that San Francisco women to death were Presas.

Yeah Presas are guard dogs, and guard dog breeds your suppose to keep up with their training for all of their life and I'm just talking about obedience it doesn't have to be shutlzhund or whatever. I think that women that was killed by them bought them to protect herself from her ex husband, I guess she really needed protection from them. I have some sort of Pit Mix too and he is that same light brindle color all over too, his hair is a little longer than pure APBTs and he is only 52lbs full grown, I doubt very much he has any mastiff like dog in him. A vet once told me he may have Boxer, but I don't see it, although alot of Boxers are Brindle, but I never seen a light Brindle boxer there usually very dark almost black. It's possible your dog might have Boxer in it but I doubt Mastiff. YOur dog could be more than just two breeds most mutts are. If she's a sweet dog who cares, what was one person's loss is your gain.

Tigger, the incident in San Fransisco she's referring to can be read about here: http://media.www.theloquitur.com/med...gs-30890.shtml

The dogs belonged to her neighbor, and the owner was unable to control the dogs. There, of course, is much MUCH more to the story.
Sadly, because of misinformation, poor breeding, and irresponsible owners, Presas and many other mastiff breeds are "the new pit bull".

I thought it was the story about a year or two ago where the lady had two Presas or maybe it was Cane Coroso I don't know and she had them in her pool in the backyard and they just attacked her for no apparent reason, I know it was in Califronia San Fran or Los Angeles. The news said she bought them for protection against her ex husband.

@Tigger Too: I didn't realize there was another incident. We own a Cane Corso, and while they are loving and loyal they can be very aggressive to strangers if they're not well socialized. We have to be super vigilant that he is contained if anyone is coming to do work in our house or yard. I think when it comes to these kinds of dogs, their size alone can make them hard to handle especially if someone is a novice dog owner. We have a police dog trainer doing obedience training with our dog, and from what I've read and heard Presa Canarios are even worse in terms of their aggressive tendencies.

Presa WILL challenge their owner.
Presa ARE dog aggressive.
Presa ARE human aggressive.
Presa ARE territorial.
Presa ARE 100+ pounds.

A good Presa will be 100% trustworthy with the family but must have strong OB training and household manners. It must be socialized extensively. A good Presa will protect it's house and family, even when you don't want it to.

Bad Presa are nervy and unpredictable. There are far more bad, poorly bred Presa than good Presa.

Unless you are prepared to own a 100+ pound human and dog aggressive guardian breed- which means no other dogs, securely fenced (6' stockade) yard, no dog sitter/ no kids that will let the dog out, never going to the dog park, never off leash, extensive obedience training, treating your dog like a dog and not like a child- then you should not own a Presa. Which means almost everyone should NOT own a Presa.
