Default CL inspired question or really just my thought of the day!
On my local craiglist there was a female pit bull free to good home.

She was "pure breed"

Her mother was a pure red nose and her father was a pure blue nose.

So if we are going to follow the reasoning of this, would that make her a mix instead of a "pure breed"?

Like saying the mother was pure Chihuahua and the father pure Dachshund. Pup would be a mix.

She had a black nose btw! And was really cute. I hope she finds a good home, but not likely being free, intact and on Craigslist.

Just my random thought of the day!

What I just don't get is, why is nose color so important to people? Seriously?

Because people are idiots and think ¨blue nose¨ means something that it doesnt. Like its some kind of indicator of breed status when really it just means the dog happened to be born with a blue colored nose and that says nothing about how pure it is or whether its well bred -_-

I have no idea why nose color is so important. But I think every breed has something. Like Warlock Dobermans for oversized Dobes. Ch. Borong the Warlock was a normal size Dobe and is usually in no way related to the so called Warlock Dobes.

Honestly it's like saying "the mother was a black and tan Chihuahua and the father was a white chihuahua" They're the same BREED so can't make a mix puppy (if the parents really are 'pure breed') Just because they're different color doesn't make them different breeds.....'red nose' and 'blue nose' is exactly that...a color...

Blue nose and red nose are not breeds (why can't people understand this?) ... just colors.
You could mix colors ALL day long and still not change the breed

i think what shes trying to get at is these people BELIEVE that theyre breeds, so if they WERE, wouldnt they be mutts?

Exactly. The way they make it seem it like red nose pit bull is different from a blue nose pit bull. Like they are different breeds. When they are in fact the same breed and nose color don't make a freakin difference. And they use pure breed instead of purebred. I see that all the time.

I really love people who are selling their chiwawa puppies or doxsan puppies or rockwilders. Me thinks you shouldn't be breeding dogs if don't even know who to properly spell the breed.

Don't even attempt to make any logical conclusions from those people's beliefs... It'll never work

I'm really getting tired of arguing with people over Zealand being mixed with Doberman because only Dobermans have tan points - when he is standing next to Bukra. They don't argue about Bukra being mixed with Doberman, because they don't know what the hell a Saluki is anyways... But oh, a Pit Bull? EVERYONE knows THOSE don't come in tan point. He's a red nose x Doberman mix, don'tya know? And *I* am the idiot dog owner who has NO idea what my dog is. *nods* Sure thing, pal!

LOL! You should know Zealand is mixed with Doberman! He does have tan points!

I get told all the time Casper is a pit bull and I don't know what I'm talking about. I can understand American Bulldog to a point, but never thought he looked like a pit bull.

But I must be wrong, here is Casper beside a 55lb white pit bull. They look identical don't they.

DUH! Casper MUST be a Pit Bull... that thing next to him... it's like... a Boston Terrier mix or something. MUCH too small to be a Pit Bull. Geez, don't you know ANYTHING?

That reminds me of the time (I'm sure I've told this story before!) I was in the vet's office with Ruger when he was about 2 years old. A woman was also in there with her ginormous (but handsome!) American Bulldog. We'd been chatting about our dogs, and how people always mistake their breeds.

Then a guy came in, looked at both dogs... Turned to the woman with the AB and said, "Sick pit! He's dope!" then looked at me and said, "Cute puppy. What is he?" When the woman told him her dog was an 11 month old AB, and I told him my dog was a 2 year old APBT... He looked at us like we told him we were the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, and walked away to the counter. He told the receptionist he had his new puppy for a check up, and said it was a 9 week old Pit Bull. About that time, who I am assuming was his girlfriend walked in with a 5-6 week old GSD puppy. The receptionist asked, "Oh! Who is this lil fella?" And the guy told her, "That's the pup I just told you about, the Pit Bull pup" .......... We all just sort of looked at each other, confused as all hell.

That guy needs to be neutered immediately.
