Default POed at uncontrolled dogs.
Just kinda a rant.

I took Taz and Cain out for their nightly walk. We walk through a field on the way home (it's lit by street lights) and there are people on the other side with their dog...off leash... Ok as long as it's controlled. Everything if going good, I'm going my way(dogs on leashes) and the other dog is minding it's own business....Until it's starts charging. Ends up running over to us (my SIL picks up her chihuahua) and tries to attack my boys. I keep my self in between them (I know kinda stupid) and yell at the other dog.
All the while the owners just stand there not doing anything but calling their dog from across the field. I finally tell them that I will use force and kick the living sh#t out of there dog, and FINALLY they come get it.

Why does it take me threatening their dog's life for them to realize something is wrong and come do something?

End rant.

Sorry if this is kinda pointless but typing it out let me vent a bit.

Shitty owners

I usually tell people that if they don't grab their dog, it WILL end up dead because my dog WILL kill it. It tends to light a fire under their ass.

I posted about getting charged by a dog on a night walk just a few days ago... so I feel your pain! I'm glad no one was hurt!

Seriously! WTF is going through their puny little minds?!

The lucky thing is that I could control the boys. Usually once someone starts it they wanna finish it but they did very well tonight. If they HAD been ready to rumble I wouldn't be able to guarantee their dogs safety... my dogs usually won't START anything but Cain and Taz (Rott mix and GSD mix) WILL finish it if they're in the mood to. Then again...the dog was probably in more danger from the owner (me). I don't play around with my dogs safety. Added to that is my SIL with her Chi, isn't physically capable to help pull fighting dogs apart, added to that the other owners wouldn't be able to make it across the field in time to stop any serious damage....and they probably would have gotten mad at ME.

Yep, I've been having the same problem in my neighborhood. I have to basically put Amy in a headlock to make sure she can't hurt the other dogs while the owners just saunter over, with the classic "don't worry! My dog's friendly!" Thanks, asshole. I didn't ask if your dog was friendly and I'm not sticking around to find out. Mine ISN'T, and she's terrified of other dogs, so get your animal under control before I do. When this has happened I have told them that if their unleashed dogs ever approach mine again I will do what I have to to protect my dog, and I will call animal control about their unleashed dog. It hasn't happened twice with the same people

I love that they look at me like I'm the jerk, too. If you can't control your dog, you're the jerk. Period. Friendly or not, your dog shouldn't be approaching strange dogs or people, ever.

The other thing is that if Amy chokes or breaks a tooth eating an unleashed chihuahua, the other owners are responsible for all medical bills, and I WILL go after them.

I agree 100%. There's this asshole who thinks it's "cute" or "funny" to let his Border Collie charge at people on a dark beach. The first time it happened, I restrained my Malinois. The other times it has happened I let my Malinois chase it off (on a leash or long line), now my 7 onth old female pit is starting to see the dog as a "prey item" to be chased............................................ ..

I'm sick and tired of it. If you can't control your dog, keep him on a leash or contained.

One day I would kinda like to see some charging dogs just get the crap beat outta them by leashed dogs. Like yell "call your dog" and when the dog persisted and the idiot owners stood there drooling, Ok then, game on!
But of course the bull breed would would be the one in trouble even if it was on leash....

HAHA! Amen to that!

That veered off topic a bit, but it's the same sentiment. Uncontrolled dogs are equally irritating. Not necessarily the dog, but the owner. Why don't they care? What if the dog breaks something or gets hurt, or stolen? I just don't understand. o.O

we were out walking tonight and two offleash dogs came out the front door of a house and started barking and going right for Amy. I screamed to the owner to get her dogs, and to my genuine surprise, she called them and they IMMEDIATELY stopped and turned around. And then she actually apologized! My god! A responsible dog owner! Who knew?

It took me a minute to recover! I was gearing up for my rant at her, and was kind of confuzzled that I couldn't deliver it!

We first moved into the house we are living in now a year ago. It needed a lot of cleaning before we moved in and brought our kids and dogs. It was rather warm outside so we had the door open while Me, my boyfriend, his mom and his step dad where working on the house. I was in my son's future room vacuuming and everyone else was in another part of the house. I came out of my son's room into the living room and there was this pit bull puppy running around the place. I yelled "where did this dog come from?!" and everyone came into the room looking at me like I was stupid until they saw the puppy. I went outside and the puppy followed me and ran to a full grown pit bull who was standing in my yard. They started to walk to my neighbor's house on my left but walked into the yard and then kept going so My boyfriend and I went over there to knock on the door to see if it was their dogs and to tell them they where loose. As we where walking up to their closed in porch the big dog came back and lunged for my boyfriend. We hurried and shut the door before he could bite us and the home owner came out and said that it was not their dogs but he's seen them around. We asked around and apparently it was normal for these dogs to be running loose and my boyfriend was not the first person to be almost bit by the bigger one. My boyfriend found out where they lived and gave them a piece of his mind and we never saw the dogs again. It makes me angry when people around here leave their dogs run loose like that. Not only is it dangerous for other people and dogs, but it's dangerous to the dogs themselves. Our speed limit on most roads around here is only 25 m/h but it does nothing, people still drive like assholes. Kids are always getting hit by cars...just yesterday a woman was pulling her 2 y/o down the street in a wagon and they got hit by a pick up truck. So....if the drivers around here hit so many kids, what makes you think they are gunna think twice about hitting your dog? It happened to me at my old house. Which is in the same area. My dog for some reason(we still don't know why because she's never done it before) jumped our fence and someone hit her. Thankfully she survived and only lost her leg in the process but the people who hit her didn't even stop to see if she was ok. I had only turned my back for a second and it happened, and she was fenced in! How easy it is for a dog to get hit when it's running the streets! I am always seeing this boxer running around playing in the busiest street in our neighborhood. Usually on my way to work with no way for me to stop...I had tried a couple of times to find out who the owner is but nobody seems to know. The next time I see it I'm calling somebody about it before the poor dog ends up dead.

OMG, that is CRAZY! A random pit bull running into your house??? That's terrifying!

Funny story:

In my last apartment (a tiny building) my neighbor above me was pet sitting my cats while I was away. She opened the door to HER apartment one morning and my cat came cruising in her apartment and ran into the kitchen, where it promptly ran into her boxer. I think they both just looked at each other shocked for a moment, and then my neighbor ran in and grabbed the cat. Apparently when she had been in my place the night before the cat slipped out and had spent the night in the hallway, and being the curious little bastard he is just went sauntering into her place when she opened the door the next morning. Luckily no one was hurt.

lol...well seeing the puppy in my house wasn't so scary. He was just running around the room in that cute goofy way puppies do and at first you know, I was kinda hypnotized like "awww a puppy!" Then I snapped out of it and was like "Where the hell did this dog come from?!" Then when I went outside and saw the bigger one, that was a little scary. The big one didn't even really acknowledge us when we came outside, as soon as the puppy joined him they left and when we seen them leave the neighbors and decided to go over there I guess he decided he didn't like the looks of my boyfriend and came back without us realizing it and went after him.

I'm glad your cat was ok...that reminds me of the time my sister switched her cat with a stray by accident. She had this big black cat when we where teenagers. He got outside and we couldn't find him. My sister found what she thought was her cat and brought him back in...but he was acting strange. Her normally very very lazy cat was freaking out by the sight of our dogs and ran and hid under my bed....shortly after the real Salem showed up and we realized the one hiding under my bed was not him! Same thing happened about 5 years ago, same cat. My sister was living with us and she came home crying and freaking out saying she found her cat dead on the side of the road down the street and she brought him home, sure enough there was a dead black cat in the bed of the pickup...but her cat was inside sleeping....Soooo she picked up a stranger's(or stray) dead cat off the side of the road, put it in her husband's pick up truck and brought it home to bury it. Only thing was it was the wrong cat. That was an interesting day.
