Default Better Behaved With Little Kids than Adults
One of Amy's many quirks - she's way more docile around little kids than full-grown humans. Whenever people want to pet her, she'll sometimes get overexcited around them and start trying to play tug with her leash and just get way too boisterous. I usually find a stick or something for her to chew on to have an outlet for all that energy but she's still a handful.

But when little kids (under the age of 8 or so) pet her, she's a perfect little angel. She'll stand there perfectly still and move only the tip of her tail, or roll over and let them pet her belly. I just spent about 10 minutes with a 4 year old outside who rubbed Amy's belly and Amy just laid there like she was stoned. I guess she must understand that the little ones are more fragile?

I think it's adorable. But I do wish she'd calm the fuck down around older people.

Shadow and Lefty were like that before training, even though Shadow felt the need to try to french kiss everyone regardless

God yes. I have to keep such a close hold on her because she will try to lick everyone's face. I had a friend over a few weeks ago who didn't want his face licked and Amy just kept walking around looking at him out of the corner of her eye and then totally nailed him a moment of weakness. I would have caught her but she was too fast. Once she gave him a full face bath she was happy to just lie in her bed.

Lucy tries to french kiss everyone but old people and kids. She usually prefers to french young men though.

And I don't know what it is, but my dogs won't even take a paw off the floor if you're under 5 feet tall, or old and rickety. Everyone else is fair game for their very oppressive form of love unless you stop them yourself.

Shadow had the nerve to look stricken and affronted anytime he was corrected for that because he just couldn't understand why on earth you wouldn't like dog tongue down your throat

I really think it is height thing. Boomer loves kids just lets them do whatever and he does not attempt to jump on them. Adults he get a little over excited with and jump up if I don't watch him. Luckily my dog does not want to kiss anybody except my husband and I.

my bull terrier Cesar is like this the perfect gentle angel around kids and gets VERY excited around adults most of the time i have gotten him to the point where he doesnt jump up on adults anymore but he will pant heavily and wiggle in circles when adults show him any attention.

for Cesar i thinks its due to the fact that his breeder had a few kids around very young ones and were way strict with him around them if baby was on the floor NO dog could go near them if baby wanted to hug the dog they had to sit very still and not get into babys face. when i brought him home i kept up the same strictness becuase i babysit other peoples kids and didnt want him frightening the parents (or kids) but sometiems adults will encourage Cesar to become excited so he does

Ruger and Bukra move like sloths around elderly folk! They *love* them, and are even sweeter than usual around them. Ruger moreso than Bukra, because Bukra never lets go of his Saluki-given self importance Neither of them are out of control with kids, either though. Or anyone, for that matter lol

Jolene is a wrecking ball no matter what, so watch out! And my son has, despite my attempts to do otherwise, taught Zealand to jump up and give kisses.. so we're working on that

Lucy just mopes, and goes into cuddle rape stealth mode.

My friend spent the night recently and taught Dumbass "Come at me bro", which is where you fling both arms out and say that, then he jumps up to chest bump you, or head butt you, in the stomach/chest/throat area, while he hits you in the groin with his paws.

my dogs are gentler with kids then adults too. The only problem I have is my 7 month old pit bull does get a little out of hand when my kids come home from school. Jumping on them, Pulling at their book bags, jackets, etc. He knows what time the bus comes and stands on the couch looking out the window 10 minutes before just waiting. I guess it's cause they're gone all day and he misses them...but they will go and spend the whole night at grandmoms and he doesn't act like that when they come home...only when they come home from school.

I'm just glad he only does it on command as of now.

And Teal, if you borrow him, he may never leave.

Consider yourself lucky Mcrose lol. Any time Sam sees our 3 year old cousin she tries with all her might to tackle her and give a kiss attack She managed to knock her down once so now I only let her around the little girl with her harness on so I can get a GOOD SOLID grip on her.

At least its not like shes attacking, she just LOVES kids WAAAY too much lol.

And Robyn, thats AWESOME!

When I first brought Amy home, I wasn't totally sold on this whole pit bull thing, and I think in the back of my mind I still suspected they might all be maneaters. So I was playing with her on the ground and she lunged right for my face and I screamed and covered my face with my hands and curled up in the fetal position. And then her tongue started working its way around my fingers on my face, and I was like "are you fucking kidding me?! you just wanted to LICK me?" and I let her do it. The rest, as they say, is history
