![]() I found Pringles on March 15 foraging out of a can of Pringles in the middle of 11th St in North Philly (thus the name). She responded to me calling to her by running over and licking my face. She was starving, ribs showing, and was thrilled to find a kind human to give her some attention. In the hours I spent with Pringles that morning walking across the city, I got to know her a bit. Pringles is a young female pit bull mix, about 45-50lbs, who loved our walk together and couldn't get enough love and attention from me. She responded well to body handling of all sorts and met several dogs along the way--she was great with them. She was also very good in the car, once she realized that she could relax and curl up on the seat for a nap after a very tiring morning. Unfortunately, I couldn't take her home due to my dog-selective dogs, so I had to take her to ACCT, where she has been ever since. Tomorrow is Pringles' 30th day at ACCT--a very stressful place for any dog to be. And every day she stays there, she is at higher risk of euthanasia. The shelter is full, and perfectly healthy and adoptable dogs are being euthanized to open up space for newcomers. But Pringles doesn't know any of that. All she knows is that she's in a noisy, scary place and would much rather be curled up on the couch with a human or out on a walk, learning new commands, and chewing on toys (her favorite). Pringles is energetic and enthusiastic, so she would make the perfect running partner. Her energy means she's a bit jumpy, but don't let that worry you, because Pringles comes with four FREE one-on-one training sessions from Dan Meredith-Stein of SitStayRun.com -- two donated by me, and two donated by Dan, an experienced behaviorist and trainer. She just needs some basic training, which her previous owner obviously never provided. Here's Pringles' bio that the ACCT shelter volunteers wrote up and some additional photos. If you're interested in Pringles, please don't wait. Go visit her tomorrow, and give the shelter a call to let them know you're on your way! And let me know too, so I can get you those training sessions with Dan. I will also happily throw in a new collar, leash and super-tough chew toys. Feel free to PM me or email me at lou (at) citykitties (dot) org. ![]() |

Pringles is still at ACCT and now been there for over a month. Lucky for her, she now has a Pen Pal (a volunteer working with her one-on-one) AND a volunteer who is taking her for long runs. She LOVES it! Pringles would make a fantastic walking, running, or hiking partner. She is also extremely smart and eager to learn. Pringles has learned some commands and tricks in no time at all and responds very well to positive training methods. And she still comes with four free training sessions to help her adopter get started on the right foot. Check out Pringles' new photos, which really show off her shiny coat and smiling face:
![]() This dog has so much to offer! The shelter is full and her time is running out, so please share Pringles with anyone you know who is looking to adopt. Thanks! |
